Do you Expect Too Much from Weight loss?

I was reading an article in an old Oprah magazine about Bob Greene and his plan for getting Oprah to finally lose all her weight, and the article talked about asking yourself WHY you want to lose the weight. Is it really just to look good, or is it because you think looking good will make your spouse love you? And it went on about really delving into why we want to lose the weight.

I began to think if part of the reason why I can't seem to maintain any weight loss is because I associate losing weight with having a better life. And then once

That is a really insightful question, Miranda! I think I also associate losing weight with having a better life. Funny thing is, three years ago I was about 15 pounds lighter than I am now and my life was not better then, it was worse! So actually the quality of my life has not really corresponded to my weight, but I continue to link the two in my mind.

I've noticed in all the weight-loss ads for various products/exercises/whatever on TV, people are always saying "My life is so wonderful since I lost 40 pounds, everything is great now!" The truth is, this is so unrealistic. Everything is not going to be suddenly

You know I think we all have in the back of our minds that life would be better if/when we lose weight. If we're honest.......and to an extent it does make life better (JMO...)- why do I think that?

a) Shopping
b) Shopping
c) Shopping

LOL~~ my biggest issue right now is shopping and finding things that fit and look good at the same time!!

However I'm not thinking that my life, or who I am is going to change drastically, nor do I want it to. I've worked for 35yrs to create this person, and I'm happy with 'who' she is :-)

That's a great way of putting it, IG!

Have to agree with you on the shopping point, I admit. :)
