Question for the runners out there
| Tue, 03-20-2007 - 5:55pm |
I'm wanting to switch from an evening run to a morning run. I plan on waking up around 5:00 am and running.
So first off are there any other morning runners out there? If so what do you to get ready for a run upon waking? Do you have anything to eat or drink?
I'm not typically a morning person so I worry about pushing myself hard enough in the mornings, does anyone else find this to be a problem?
Also, I drink around 75 oz. of water a day is that enough after going all night without any water and then exerting yourself when you wake up?
Any other tips/hints for morning running would be appreciated.

Hi Gretchen!
Ok, I can tell you what works for me but everyone is different.
For early AM running I need to eat before I run. Usually I eat an english muffin with PB and drink about 1/2 cup of coffee and some water...brush teeth. Easy stretchng...so much harder to stretch n the AM. Then off I go...at least 3 miles...nothing too long because the kids sometimes need follow up in the AM. Easy stretch post run. The biggest hurdle is going out the door. Stuff to do etc. Just go...it's really nice, quiet, watch the world wake, cold. You'll feel great afterwards.
I have to be very aware of my blood sugar, so I'll drink a glass of OJ after running and have some more coffee, bowl of cereal too.
Go for it - it's great!
Hi Crashbang! I know you've been around this board before, but thanks for popping by to give some first hand advice!

Hey Gretchen- I did ask :-)
She pointed out to "go" before you go out......w/out going into too much detail here; she's found that she cramps up a little in the mornings when out, a friend of hers mentioned using the bathroom before you head out the door.
She also drinks a little water- and more then when she comes in.
That's about all she had to offer though ~
