Well ladies, this week it's Mother's Day. And while some of us ARE moms, and some of us want to BE moms, and some of us KNOW moms, at one point or another we've all had moms!! LOL
So what is one thing your mom has passed on health or fitness or diet wise that you are GRATEFUL for?

So what is one thing your mom has passed on health or fitness or diet wise that you are GRATEFUL for?and What is one thing your mom has passed on health, fitness, or diet wise that you are NOT GRATEFUL for?
This is a toughie Miranda....

Growing up we rarely had cookies and other such things in the house. I've (for the most part) inherited that.

Along the same lines as above, I think because we didn't have the 'treats' at home I went ga-ga for them when not at home, like when I first moved out on my own!!

I am very close to my mom, and I appreciate everything she has ever taught me, except ONE thing...
THE BANANA EGG WIENER DIET
Day 1 - eat 9 bananas
Day 2 - eat 9 eggs
Day 3 - eat 9 weiners
lose 9 lbs.
I went on it to fit into my junior prom dress - that was back in the day when we thought crash dieting was the way to go! I couldn't eat eggs for years after that one. lol
Rebecca, wonderful wife and mom to the Fabulous Four! &n
So what is one thing your mom has passed on health or fitness or diet wise that you are GRATEFUL for? We always had healthy home cooked meals and didn't eat out much. We didn't eat a lot of fast food, never drank kool-aid - only 1/2 cup of juice in the morning with breakfast and weren't allowed to aimlessly snack. So I guess my mom developed my healthy eating habits which I hope I'm doing for my kids.

OMG Rebecca, I'd never heard of that diet in my life! LOL

Well I think that I come from a fairly active family. My mom runs and goes to the gym and she is in her mid-50's. My 85 year old gram swims twice a week and is on her exercise bike every night. So although I'm not always as active as I should be, I'm hoping I have some dormant 'exercise genes' hidden away! LOL

I'd say the fact that my mother was VERY restrictive with our foods in terms of snacks & sweets. So that we never really learned moderation, so now I have a tendency to over-indulge because "darnit, I'M the boss now" LOL. I know, not exactly a healthy relationship with food. I also tend to reward myself with food, because as kids getting sweets or fast foods was always seen as a 'treat'.
So what is one thing your mom has passed on health or fitness or diet wise that you are GRATEFUL for? My mom was pretty health-conscious and made sure we had balanced meals, even though she was not much of a cook!
and What is one thing your mom has passed on health, fitness, or diet wise that you are NOT GRATEFUL for? Although she was health-conscious, I think she was too obsessive with her body weight, always wanting to lose a five pounds that IMO she didn't need to, never seeming happy with the way she looked even though she looked great! I think this kind of got passed on to me in my teens and I also became an extreme dieter until I got sick of that in my early 20s.
I'm looking forward to being a mom.
