Hi all! New here and finally admitting to myself that my metabolism has hit rock bottom since turning 31, and my body is morphing into my mother's (sorry mom!). So what's the secret to success, everyone? Are you all doing a weight loss program, or winging it on your own? What are the challenges of being in our "30's". Any advice and support is appreciated! Wish me luck!

Well Sable, I'd love to be able to tell you what the secret is - unfortunately, I'm still looking too! Welcome to the board, and while you may not find the cure all, you will find wonderful, supportive women, great advice and a good laugh or two while you're here.

Generally we do advocate a plan of moderation and don't really follow any specific plan (although there are boards geared specifically to those plans). Many of us are struggling with the same issues - demands on our time from work and family, and changing bodies and metabolism! We are finding that what may have worked for us in our 20's sure doesn't do the trick anymore!

So welcome, and hope you can share your journey with us!!

Hi Sable and Welcome to the Board! I can totally relate to what you're saying. The early 30's were fine for me... it's just these last 2 years or so that the weight has crept up on me (I'm 38). I've tried South Beach, Weight Watchers, counting calories... but like Miranda said - the pressures of work and kids I always get sidetracked. Right now my "thing" is the Extreme Fat Smash Diet (I'm on Day 3 - I'm jounraling it below) by Dr. Ian Smith - hoping to jump start some weight loss. WELCOME AGAIN!

Thank you for the advice. I did really well last year just keeping things like 1 serving canned lite peaches in my desk at work. So when I needed a snack I would eat them instead of going to the vending machine for junk. Then I kinda got away from it. My BF wants us to do SB but I just don't want to commit!!
