Hi All...

Hi, my name is Jenn and I am new to this board and have read some of the posts and I think this is just what I need to motivate me. See, about a year ago I lost 35 lbs and am super proud of myself, however, the past year has been pretty hectic and stressful for me and shows no signs of letting up. It's good stuff (mostly), but I am losing sight of me and my fitness needs and need to get back to eating well and working out regurlary. I have lots of tips and ideas and I do know what to do, I just need the push!

Looking forward to chatting with all of you!

Jenn

Welcome to the board Jenn! And congrats for losing that weight! What an accomplishment! It is so easy to let ourselves slip further and further down our list of priorities! That's why this board is great - it reminds us to put ourselves at the top so we can better accomplish everything else in our hectic lives!!

Hey there Jenn, welcome to the board- we'll gladly give you that push!

;-)

Congratulations on your weight loss....I know how difficult it can be to keep things up once you've reached a certain point. Plus with everyday life going on.....it can get real tricky to make sure we get that 'exercise time' and 'good-for-you-food' in.

With summer arriving we all have sun and bathing suits on our minds!

You can push us too ;-)

Hi Jenn,

I am new also! Just wanted to welcome you!

It sounds like we're in similar situations, somewhat. I lost 70 lb in 2000 and was very proud of myself, of course...kept it off for a long time, but over the past year and a half I've gained back about 25 lb and it is time to get it off! :-) My plan is exercising more, mostly. I already eat pretty well but I can be sooooo lazy.

I know exactly what you mean. The right "push" is all it takes, but we cannot force it. In my experience, it just happens. It's like all the stars are aligned at the right time, and "poof!" it happens. I've done it before (lost 30 pounds, gained it, lost 20 pounds, gained it), so the real challenge for me is keeping it off this time. The losing part is more a test in patience and positive self-discipline.

Firstly, the negative thoughts that we hear when all is quiet have to go. Replacing them with realistic truths about what we are able to achieve with the the "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" mentality is important, too. That positive reinforcement, I find, has helped me stay uplifted and hopeful while I achieve small losses (and huge gains in my goal). As these little milestones accumulate, we see how far our journey has taken us from our starting point, and doing so step-by-step.

I'm feeling pretty confident these days about my new journey and would be more than happy to spread that optimism as my show of support. I know there will be times of frustration and stagnation, so I'm going to rely on positive thinking to get me through the rough patches. Nothing, I mean NOTHING, can be worse than walking around feeling uncomfortable in my own skin as I am (I wish I could zip it off like a bad outfit). I'm done with that.
