Hello....trying to gain weight here...

Good day!
I would like to know if I'm way off track here. I'm 31 and I'm trying to put on about 20 pounds. Can i hang out here or is there a better place for me somewhere else? Thanks.
Sarah

Yep, I agree. We definitely have the same goals. Wow, this board is so awesome for support! I can't believe it!

WOW Sarah you've got a lot going on! That pizza place sounds like quite an endeavor! Good luck!
Hi Sarah! We're practically neighbours! I'm in Edmonton Alberta!
It sure sounds like you have a lot going on. I'll be thinking of you as you wait for those results. I had some lumps in my breast last year that were suspicious, so had to go through the mammo, the ultrasound, then then the wait. Not pleasant but luckily everything turned out fine
Hey I'll be in Edmonton on the August long weekend! I'm heading there with 5 girlfriends for the weekend. I can't wait! I love Edmonton....it's like a bigger Saskatoon, with the valley and river running through it.
I think that I can make the switch to half-caff pretty easily. Maxwell House sells a nice half blend. I just LOVE the taste of coffee....I can't let it go!
How did you quit smoking? Cold turkey or did it take some products?
We are super excited about the pizza place. We think it's going to make pretty good money, and we're happy because now we'll have a place to eat out for supper...I didn't realize how much I would miss dining out being so far from Saskatoon!

Hi Sarah,
Have you tried getting some Boost to increase your caloric intake? My s/o is doing that right now because he has a very active job and works out on top of it and he wanted to increase his size, so he bought some boost and has 2-3 of those a day (they're about 260 cals each). He likes the taste of the chocolate ones, and that says a lot seeing that he's such a picky eater!
You've not only been through quite a lot Sarah, but it's still going for you......it's great that Rory is there with you now :-)
All of the stress could also have something to do with your weight (or have you always weighed around that mark?)- have you ever talked to a doctor or nutritionist about helping you?
In any case....like you said- the support is wonderful here- and ultimately we are all on the same path- being fit and healthy. Do check out our summer challenge- and here's another 'official' welcome to our board!

Oh I agree about our River Valley - I just would miss it so much if I moved away!! Sounds like a fun weekend planned with the girlfriends! As for quitting smoking I did use Zyban but only 1/2 doses as it gave me the jitters. HOWEVER, more importantly I think I just hit that point where I really didn't want to be a smoker and it is all about how you identify yourself. The last time I smoked, I had gone out with a girlfriend for drinks and asked for a cigarette, I took one drag and couldn't even finish it and on top of that, I couldn't even understand why anyone would want to smoke it tasted that badly. And I've never looked back. The zyban did help in the beginning to get rid of the cravings but it's something you just have to set your mind to and dig in for the long haul. LOL
My only issue with Boost is that it's pretty expensive. But, I guess I spend $5 per day on cigarettes....I can certainly afford boost right?
Thanks for that.

I've always been pretty small, and there isn't anything medically wrong with me. Blood is good, heart, lungs, woman parts....everything is fine (except the lump in my breast, but that's no big deal I'm sure it will be fine). So, my doctor isn't really that concerned.
Here's something...i went for supper after work on Saturday with some co-workers and their spouses. A guy I work with is married to a gorgeous girl, but she weighs like 75 pounds. She is a serious skeleton and it's obvious that there is something wrong. I guess she's had bulimia for a few years now. Honestly I thought I was thin, but this was terrible. i was worried about her the second I saw her get out of her car. It kind of made me feel a little sheepish about being so concerned with my weight, when I seem to be so much healthier than some people.
Anyway, just wanted to say that. it was a surreal experience.
