Hi all!
I am 36 and attempting to lose about 40 pounds by next June, when I am getting married. I started running about 6 weeks ago-I run a mile in the morning after I eat a small breakfast, then I come home drink plenty of water and then walk about 3 miles. I walk 7 days a week, and I run 5 days a week. I feel really great while I am working out, but when I am finished with my walk, I am done. I shower and then can't seem to get energized for the rest of the day. I am eating healthy and often, but I wonder if I am exercising too much or if my diet is lacking in something. All I know is I need more energy. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

Good Morning and thanks for the welcome,
Here is a typical day for me meal wise:
I drink 2 cups of coffee when I first get up,
1 bowl/pkg of instant oatmeal w/milk
1 bowl of yogurt with fruit after my run
a light lunch ham sandwhich some fruit or cottage cheese
bowl of cereal for snack
I usually drink some orange juice in the afternoon for a pick up
a normal supper with meat and veggies
a bowl of cereal for snack before bed
I drink alot of water throughout the day
I sleep about 8 hours a night.
I am a teacher and off for the summer so my schedule is different than some. I also do not take a multivitamin or any supplements.
Thank you, Windy
Welcome to the board Windy- I'm a teacher too!
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding- guess it is scheduled for when school is out next year. Plenty of time to get into shape!
Vanessa and Sonia mentioned your sleeping- and diet- both look good actually. One thing that did strike me is your two cups of coffee before your run/walks......that may affect you- causing dehydration. Anyway you could have them after, or even cut it down to one? Also make sure you have water on hand for you walk. Plus I wonder if you could go for a shorter walk in the morning and do that last mile in the evening?
One of our motto's around here is baby steps-- if all of what you are doing at the moment is too much, then cut back a little and build up your stamina before taking it to the next level.
HTH- plus hope you're enjoying your time off!
Feel free to visit my other board too, link is in my siggie ;-)

Hey Windy! Welcome to the board, and congrats on the upcoming wedding!! It sure sounds like you are on the right track - and your diet and sleep look alright to me - but perhaps IG is right - you might just need extra fluids.
Each person has their specific body rhythms and needs so you may want to just try a few different things (shorter walk, more water, different breakfast) to see if any of those things make a difference.
Here's a little bit of info I found on pre-workout snacks:

Hello Everyone,
Thank you so much for all of your help. I think that I probably am not getting enough protein. Everything else seems to be ok. I think I am going to try drinking some of those energy protein drinks that are out there. There is a recipe from the owner of that gym thats on BRAVO all the time that looks easy to make. My fiancee thinks I work out too much but I only work out about an hour a day. Thanks again for the support.
Bye Windy
