I posted a few months back after breaking my foot looking for some good low impact exercises. I have gained some weight in the last year as a side effect of a medication which I just went off last week. I am hoping to lose what I gained and get back to my old self, and the clothes that went with it.

It was a bit devasting gaining the weight as I've always been pretty stable in that area. I try to eat healthy and stay active and have never really had to "diet" before. So here I am at age 35 and am roughly 20-25 lbs over what my weight usually is. If I get really whacky I might want to lose 30 and get down to my college weight, but I'd be content at 5 lbs over that and in a size 6 again.

For exercise I like to walk, do yoga, or mat pilates. Looking forward to participating and getting some motivation for everyone.

Hi Lisa, good to see you back and great to hear you're all mended up now! Do take it easy getting back into it- if need be talk to your doc. about how 'far' you can go with it, just to be cautious!!

How is your foot feeling? Do you have any exercises to do to help build back up strength etc...?

I'm doing much better. I bought two sets of SuperFeet orthodic inserts, one for athletic shoes (green) and one for dress shoes (black). They provide better arch support than shoes alone.

I have some exercises that are supposed to strengthen my feet too. The best is rolling a can of frozen juice with my bare foot. Another is picking up a towel between your toes.

I am not running now, just walking or doing yoga type stuff. My doc basically said I shouldn't ever jog or run on hard surfaces like sidewalks. He also said no heels higher than 1 inch. Luckily flats are in style now, but I'm not real happy about this one.

That frozen juice exercise actually sounds like it would be relaxing too ;-)
I'm not a high heel person at all.......but I guess if you've been used to them it would be hard to get out the habit- but you had better listen to the doc- sorry!
