Hi everyone. I'm new here and just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jessica and I'm 31 years old. I live with my husband and three kids (two sons 7 and 1-1/2 and a daughter right in the middle...she's 5). Oh...and we just got a puppy!
I have been dieting/working out since the beginning of May. My goal was to lose 25-30 pounds total and so far I've lost almost 20. I'd like to lose another 15 pounds but I would be happy with 5-10. BUT....I find that these last 5-10 pounds are going to be tough. I haven't lost a pound in almost 2 weeks. In fact, from the time I woke up yesterday to the time I went to bed I seemed to GAIN 3 or 4 pounds!!! WHAT!? My period is due within the next day or two....could this be all bloat? Maybe it's a combination of bloating and a bad scale? I don't know if I gained this much last month around my period because I tend to weigh myself more now that I am obsessing over these last few pounds. Has anyone gained 3-4 pounds just because it's "that time of the month"? Also, any suggestions as to how to kick start my weight loss again are much appreciated. I am starting to lose my motivation. Thanks!! Jessica

I understand completely....and don't give up!
Welcome to the board Jessica!! And straight off the bat - I want to give you a resounding YES on the bloat and weight gain due to TOM. I can gain anywhere from 3-6 pounds at that time of the month, and it all just magically falls away once I'm done. It is a bit freakish, but now I just ignore it. LOL
And those last few pounds are a b!tch to lose. LOL Your body is probably adjusting to whatever you have done to lose those previous pounds and is simply happy where it's at. You just need to give it a good kick start to rev up your loss again.
I agree about drinking the water, also try to mix up where your calories are coming from not necessarily how many you are taking in. Try some new exercises - are you a runner? Try biking. A biker? Try swimming. The trick is to shock your body with new activities and dietary habits to break that plateau. I don't mean anything drastic like a marathon and a 900 calorie diet, just something out of the ordinary.
I agree! I always weigh (when I do) when I get up, after I pee, and before I shower (I figure my wet hair weighs more, LOL)
I do the same, pee, strip down to the nutty, and hop on the scale!
Don't feel about the plateu - it is most likely water weight - do be excited about the 20pd loss! That is great and your body may need to adjust before it can heave off the rest.
