Exercise machines???

I was wondering if anyone here had ever used one of the bow machines like bowflex or crossbow. I am wondering if they really work or if they are just hype. I am partially disabled and I am trying to get back in shape so I want to start working with weights. Because I work out alone I am worried that because of my disabilities free weights could be dangerous, but I don't wont to waste my money on garbage. So I would love to hear from anyone with an opinion.

I have a Bowflex. I agree with the last post, I woujld not by a new one. Find one in the newspaper, it will be a lot cheaper. WE have "the Flyer" magazine, and I got a good used one for only $250 ( versus over $1000). That said, when used, I do see results, and fairly quickly. It is easy on the joints, and I feel that I can maintain better posture with it.

Good luck.

We have a Bow Flex and unfortunately paid full price for it. I like it because it is eay to use and the book comes with detailed pictures and instructions for each exercise. We also have an elliptical, that I don't use because I hate to exercise indoors.lol

I haven't used either, but I agree with other posters in general on fitness equipment - you can usually buy good quality equipment at a much reduced rate if you buy it used. And generally it isn't well used, LOL.

Check your local paper or website for used items (we have the bargain finder up here) and let us know what you decide!
