From Fitday. Calories burned versus eating.

chart.jpg picture by kelela92

Am I doing something wrong? I've only been putting in my activities (running, weight training, golfing), but nothing else. According to this, I'm burning off WAY more than I'm consuming, and trust me, I'm guestimating on FitDay for the higher end of calories/fat. I mean, even with all this "junk" eating that I'm doing, I'm still only at 1000-1500 calories. Now, that's not super low, but it's not super high either. Is it? Am I not eating enough? I feel like I'm eating all the time (healthier stuff though).

Shouldn't I be losing SOME (scale) weight? Thoughts?

(can you hear my frustrations? And yet, I'm trying to tell myself....give it time, give it time. lol.) At least FitDay is showing me that um, yeah, I'm intaking a lot of fat :( So that could be it. See my average calories below.

I'm the last person to give advice on diet, but wanted to say that it sounds like you are right on track...not seeing lbs. drop could be a couple of things...1) I know you said that you don't see the muslce or can't see it in your clothes, but it still could be muscle that you are building.

Cher it appears you are doing everything right. Your percentages look good, your calories look good and you are definitely burning what you eat.

Perhaps you want to look at increasing your calories up above 1200. Have you been to the doc to make sure that there isn't any medical reason for not losing weight? Have you tried switching your B/C pill? Because sometimes that makes a HUGE difference.

Other than that, I don't know what to say. It is a mystery! I know. Helpful. Right. LOL

Cher your food % look good - maybe it's the exercise - could your body be used to what you're doing? Should you add some different routines to what you do?

Sonia-
Yup, ITA on the "maybe eating the wrong things". Can you give me the link to that website you suggested? Maybe I'll throw in the same things from the previous week and see what happens. I mean, like you, I think I'm eating great, but maybe I am eating the wrong things.

Miranda-
I haven't been to the doc. At what point do you think I should go? Should I give this more time, in case I am building muscle, and therefore, not losing weight? I haven't switched my BCP in awhile, however, it is different from the one I used to have. Maybe I'll go back to my old one. It wasn't any worse. And I know I lost weight while on it (not cuz of it, but the weight did come off during that time).

Vanessa-
My body could be used to what I'm doing. I'm basically doing my elliptical everyday. I think tonight (or tomorrow night) I'll hook up the VCR and start using my SI6, and some of the other cardio dvd's I have. Maybe I need to switch it up. Do you feel that could be enough to "switch it up"?

Thanks for the suggestions ladies. :)

Cher, what I would suggest is that you track EVERYTHING for a good week or so. Then I would make an appointment with the doc and go and ask him/her to check it over. AND I would say YES definitely check the type of pill you are on. My sister had a horrible time with one particular type of pill causing her to retain weight like crazy even though she was exercising and dieting.

It's a private site through my insurance.....but if you want to email me or post a days worth of food/meals, I'll plug it in and show you the results.

Are you measuring your body?

I would start doing that. Because I'm not losing much on the scale at all right now but my inches are going down but I do think if you are burning THAT many calories you may not be eating enough calories for the kind of workouts you are sustaining. It seems a little low calorie wise. One day your way under 1000 which doesn't seem healthy. I know that when I was killing myself working out twice a day, eating strictly 1200 calories a day I didn't lose a dang thing, when I added more calories thats when I seemed to lose, it was a bit strange.

Well, I'm refusing to measure until the end of week 6 (about 1.5 weeks from now). So, that will tell me the true story, however, I guess I had hoped to see SOMEthing move, y'know? As for too little calories? It could be the thing. I mean, my breakfasts range about 300, snacks about 100, lunch has been around 300-700. And dinner has been around the 500 or so. Obviosly, some days are really high. lol

BTW, that really low day, I think I'm either missing

That's what I'm thinking. Because you are exercising a lot your body might be hanging on going HELLS NO!
