From Fitday. Calories burned versus eating.

chart.jpg picture by kelela92

Am I doing something wrong? I've only been putting in my activities (running, weight training, golfing), but nothing else. According to this, I'm burning off WAY more than I'm consuming, and trust me, I'm guestimating on FitDay for the higher end of calories/fat. I mean, even with all this "junk" eating that I'm doing, I'm still only at 1000-1500 calories. Now, that's not super low, but it's not super high either. Is it? Am I not eating enough? I feel like I'm eating all the time (healthier stuff though).

Shouldn't I be losing SOME (scale) weight? Thoughts?

(can you hear my frustrations? And yet, I'm trying to tell myself....give it time, give it time. lol.) At least FitDay is showing me that um, yeah, I'm intaking a lot of fat :( So that could be it. See my average calories below.

darn darn darn. So even all the good foods I'm eating, is too much carbs. Shoot, how am I going to get all those proteins into my snacks and stuff? Maybe I should just carry beef jerky around with me at all times. LOL.

But seriously. i'm going to get some protein powder and start with that. And then slowly figure out how to add protein to my diet and cut down on the carbs. As much as I love my burgers...I'm just not a big meat/fish eater.

I just looked at where you can get protein (in foods). I guess I better buy me some soynuts, they have a lot of protein.

I'm babbling at this point, don't mind me.

Yep! I think as long as you are periodically doing "new things" to trick your body in to moving differently it should help.

I'm new here but I just wanted to say that I think your not eating enough calories. I was just reading Bob Greene's book (you should check it out I got it from the library). Anyways he says that you should never go below 1,500 calories or you set your body up for starvation mode especially when your exercising. I would up my calories and see what happens. Also have you done measurements? Are you losing any inches? Are you drinking enough water? Bob Greene also has a great explanation in his book of the plateau and why sometimes it seems your not losing weight but you really are. I can't remember it exactly so I won't try to explain it but it sounds like your doing great! Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the welcome! I really enjoyed Bob Greene's book. I am breastfeeding right now so I am not looking for a diet but the book had a lot of great info about your metabolism and how it is affected by certain things.

Hi everyone,

Quick update. First, I got some protein powder. I got a small bag to try out, cuz there's so many different brands, and most of them are in HUGE containers. lol. It was also the cheapest, but still had all the good stuff in it. I haven't tried it yet, but probably will tomorrow, as it's weights day.

Also, I'm trying to eat up more calories. I'm not sure how, but even if I have to have a protein shake and bars to fill them up, at least its good stuff going in, versus a ton of carbs. kwim?

Lastly, I did measure, and I couldn't find my initial measurements, so I have no clue where I'm at. I'll have to measure tomorrow morning and see. Honestly, from looking at them, I don't think I've lost anything. If anything, I've probably gained some in certain areas (which is fine, because those areas I'm assuming it's muscle). But it got me all depressed to know I haven't lost a darn inch (since March - that was my last measurements, that I could find). And unfortunately, that led me to not exercising Fri/Sun/Mon and eating too much junk this weekend.

I'm aiming to get back on track tomorrow, but I really could use some sleep!!! Knowing that I have to keep puppy on a schedule means I can't really go to sleep early. Although, I think I will tonight, and have DH take care of puppy for me.

So, I'll update you tomorrow as to where I really am. I decided to measure, since I know it is the only true way to see if anything is going on. Now, to get back on track.

Good for you on getting that protein powder and getting ready to measure again. Looks like you're still determined which is good!

Definitely still determined, but losing my motivation. I guess waking up all the time during the night isn't helping. Ugh. last night, both dogs were sick. not fun.
