Today is MRI day and panic is setting in

So I'm finally getting an MRI on my back after over a week of dealing with the insurance comany procedures. It's crazy to go through all that (see primary care doctor, get X-ray, see specialist, then get order for MRI) just to get to the the point that the ER doctor said I needed to be at. She told me I needed an MRI and now I'm finally authorized.

Best of luck you to you!
I know it's easy to say and harder to do but try to relax. Focus on your breathing. If you can try to think of something to occupy
Yes the singing is a good idea!! LOL
Good luck, and please let us know the results! It will be a relief to at least get some information from teh docs as to what's wrong!
It's over, but no results until I see the doc on Friday. I warned the tech in advance about my issues with loud noises, so he gave me earplugs and headphones. It helped enough to keep my stress level down. That tube sure was a tight squeeze though. I had my knees bent going in and had to lower them because I wouldn't fit in that way. The top of the tube was literally inches from my face. When I saw that was the case, I closed my eyes immediately and didn't open them again until I felt the bed move and I was all the way back out.
Hey Stacy- tried posting at lunch to you, but the boards were not cooperating with me!
Glad to hear you managed to a)get through all the red tape to finally get the MRI and b)are finally over with it. Good thinking to tell the tech about your fears, glad to hear he was able to help with the plugs and headphones, and it was also nice to hear you had a friend to go along with you.
As for the meds and work.....if you can't take them, will you go back w/out them? (Just thinking that you might/would be better off taking the time off, though I'd hate to have to do that too- but in the long run it will be better to recuperate 100% than not!)
Sending on some P&PT's for your appointment on Friday.

Hi,
I just wanted to know that I am thinking of you.
I remember when I had my back 'spasms' and such, I didn't take any time off work, and it took months for me to feel 'normal' again. Getting up was tough- and sitting, etc.... (I feel your pain)- but after about 40mins of being up and walking about I did feel somewhat better. The pain was always worse in the morning.
I needed the contact too. I understand. Just don't go back too fast ;-)

Well I'm glad the MRI is over - hopefully you will get some positive news on Friday!
Is there any way you can return to work on a modified schedule? I agree with IG in that it is so important not to rush yourself and end up worse than better, but I do understand the frustration of bing out of the loop AND
I think in my case, I might be better using the vacation time. Since I paid into the leave bank (you donate 4 hours of leave a year then if you have an approved medical condition, you can draw from it as long as needed), I might be better off using it. Plus, we are allowed to donate leave to each other when someone runs out. I might be able to do that and then borrow against my annual leave to visit my mom.
I decided this morning that if I'm not allowed to use strong meds at work, I'll try out what I was given when I had the milder version of the problem and will stay as long as I can. I'm about to call a guy at work who has one of the mesh chairs (rather than the cushioned chair I have....which I normally prefer) to see if he'll switch with me for a while, since it will hold pillows that will allow me to sit at an angle, rather than upright as my chair does. I know he won't object, but since I'm always the first one in, I don't want to get there and just switch it without asking him first.
One way or another I will make an attempt to go to work on Monday.
