I know it's sheer boredom driving me to these observations, but I'm having a real issue with how some diet products are advertised.

{{{STAY STRONG}}}!
LOL
Honestly if any of those product worked, everyone would be at their ideal weight. I think part of the reason why some people experience success with some of those products is that you are likely to pay more attention to your diet in general when you are taking a particular product or when you are on a particular regimen.
so I'll send you some
{{{ANTI-INFOMERCIAL VIBES}}}
LOL
I know- some of them just need a little common sense to 'read between the lines'- there are some ads that pop up on certain boards that are just, well.....um, inappropriate for the boards topic (ie. some baby product on a miscarriage board)- the unfortunate thing is that iVillage can't control where these ads crop up!
Now ....please, please, please- don't have a late night tonight watching infomercials. That really would be a sad Friday night ;-)

There is a terrible infomercial about a weight loss book....can't reveal any secrets...but it gives you permanent weight loss and you will stay at your ideal weight forever.

You know, I think I've seen that one and I also looked him up because his claims were so absurd. He also has a product that cures any disease, including cancer.
We don't have a television, yes as amazing as that sounds. But I do recall seeing the commercials for pills etc.
My overall thinking is that if a pill really could solve one's weight issues, then why would we have such a problem. One would think that the government would jump on it straight away to get it's citizens back in top form again. Or is that too socialistic?
No one really knows how weight works; our calorie counting and working out numbers are just estimates and granted at its simplest form. So if there are scientist trying to figure out why some people are obese and others not, than how can some quack on the television at 2am tell us he can solve the problem??
