I know it's sheer boredom driving me to these observations, but I'm having a real issue with how some diet products are advertised.

I think what is the worse about the diet pill/tea/gimmick industry is its pry on a group of people so desperate to to fit in to society half the time we order online because we don't want the shame of going into the store and having anyone see us by the products for fear of the person behind the counter or in line shake their head in agreement that we need that product or how about our spouses/family/SO, I used to hide any diet pill I was on in my drawer for fear if it didn't work because I didn't want yet again for me to be a "failure" in the eyes of the people I love.
So many people out in the world just say "eat healthy and exercise" because they have these fantastic metabolisms and they have no idea how really difficult it is for someone who A) doesn't have a fantastic metabolism B) has a medical issue in regards to weight gain C) physical injury to prevent a lot of exercise or D) emotional issues surrounding food or E) any of the above issues combined and they just say suck it up and do it. They can't get their head around the issues for many of.
It puts many of us in a kind of a very vulnerable position for gimmicks because we are very desperate for WHATEVER will work and although in our heads we "know" this tea isn't going to make us drop 50 lbs in 10 weeks (I know that's not what the commercial says just creating my own commercial) we watch the testamonials from the other people who've drank the tea and go "well look at them it worked for them" it really is a billion dollar industry for a reason.
I wish there was more of a governmental agency to regulate these industries. Where's the FDA??? for these wild claims?
Smile,
Deirdre
