QOTW- Let's go out for dinner!

Ok.....so we're not really going out, but the other day I was watching the TV show "You are what you eat"- and they went out to eat. It was pretty interesting to see how far the presenter went in changing what was on the menu to what she actually wanted, SO....
When you go out do you order directly from the menu, or do you make your own changes? Order on the side dressings, etc...
What's your biggest worry when going out?

First thing I do is try to find a menu of wherever we are going and make decisions before I get there. I do make my own changes, too.

I have to admit to not being very good about ordering 'off' menu. Then again, I don't go out that often, perhaps once a month...so I see it as a treat when I get out for a nice meal. However I will try at least to have some leftover to go home with.

Overindulging, especially with those fresh bread rolls and butter! There's one place we go to and they have deeeeeelicious homemade bread (tomato herb....mmmm) and they serve it with herby oil- I don't feel so bad having some bread there. But it's the places that just leave the whole basket there, and replace it when empty. Brats!!

I can usually order from the menu, most restaurants are user friendly these days by allowing for substituting potato for a salad etc. And I don't usually go for casseroles or anything like that I usually go for something like steak and a salad something really good like that YUMMY! I never eat bread at the table nor dessert
What's your biggest worry when going out?

Hmmm, I'm another picky eater! LOL So generally I have to modify the item on the menu. I always ask for dressings on the side, and make sure that there isn't any cheese in the meals. Other than that, I'm pretty laid back and don't worry too much about what I'm eating when I'm out. For me eating out is not the norm and is a treat, so I don't usually feel badly about ordering something that isn't entirely good for me!

I don't really have a biggest worry - with the excpetion of worrying as to whether there will be cilantro in what I order. You can laugh, but honestly, it's in EVERYTHING! LOL And I can't stand it. Usually it isn't something you can ask to have left out either, so going for Thai food or mexican is a bit of a crap shoot.
When you go out do you order directly from the menu, or do you make your own changes? Order on the side dressings, etc... Depends in nicer restaurants I'm more likely to be good. Fast food, even with their healthier choices now I still gotta have those fries.
What's your biggest worry when going out? Like Miranda my biggest worry is that they don't put pickle on, around, or near my food!!!
Ok, no cilantro for you- no celery for me!!

I rarely make changes (other than to leave out onions, if possible to save me the trouble of picking around them). The only time I regularly make substitutions is when I go out for Greek and get the combo platter. I have them give me moussaka instead of chicken.
What's your biggest worry when going out?
I go out to eat so rarely that I see it as a treat and don't try to stay on a diet plan while I'm out. I don't worry about anything! One meal isn't going to cause a setback and sometimes it's just nice to have something really good without thinking about whether it's healthy or not.
