I went back to the doctor today since it has been 6 weeks and my back has not improved much and he set me up with a new plan of action.

Sorry to hear that your back's not improving much- but thankfully you and your doc have come up with an alternative game plan. I can see your point about the awkwardness of asking for leave from co-workers. Are any of them close friends, who really (really) would be happy to help you out? I'm sure some of the others would be happy to help too-- since it is close to the end of the year, like you said.

If I were you I'd figure out how many *days* *hours* whatever.... it is you will need to have and then figure out a plan of attack; whether it be you asking for it, or the bigger guns ;-)

Good news about at least being able to restart your walks around the lake!

I'll do the math tomorrow and figure out just how much I'll need. Two people offered leave in order to make me go back home when I tried going back to work after 2 weeks off.

I think you mean Bookwyrm's siggie is ready, but now looking at those, I'd like one too....actually, I'd really just like to learn to do it myself, but then I think I'd go a little overboard.

Dang Stacy - sorry to hear your back isn't getting much better. Hopefully the PT will help and those walks around the lake - good thing we're having such nice weather still...

Wish I could donate some of my time to you - I NEVER use all my sick/personal leave and end up losing it at the end of the year... Right now I've got 5 of those days to use before 12/31...

Sounds like you should be planning a week-long vacation!

I found one coworker who had 180 hours at the use it or lose it point. I only needed 30, so he will give them to me.

I was happy to get the leave, but felt guilty for taking it for what seems like a relatively minor issue when I heard another coworker talking about donating his leave to a guy he used to work with who is dying of cancer so they can help extend his income as long as possible. I am thinking about contacting the coworker who donated to me to suggest he give his remaining leave that is about to expire to this other guy, since it sounds like he really needs it.
