How do I get my motivation back?

I've been doing really well with my eating lately, but I'm having a lot of trouble getting myself to go to the gym. I have the time and have permission from my physical therapist and specific instructions on what I can and can't do, but I have yet to go back.

Personally, I think you are doing great!

You're right. Maybe I should try for twice/week. Unfortunately, none of my friends go to my gym, so I need to find a way to make it there without anyone's assistance.

Easy to understand your frustration here Stacy-- but Sonia's right- you did have a BIG set back and it would be ideal to be able to hop right back on to where you were before your injury... but in reality it just doesn't work that way, unfortunately! Baby steps my girl, baby steps!

I like Sonia's idea of lowering your weekly goal of gym visits... plus it won't seem as daunting if you have to hit it 2 times as opposed to 5-- also how about that lake, and walking to and around it again, or is it getting too cold for that now?

In any case... take your time. Do what you can- you will get there!

It's definitely too cold for the lake. I hate cold weather and once it got below 50 degrees, I knew I was done with outdoor activities for a while!

Stacy I agree with the others - temper your expectations a bit and gradually build them up. Is there some visual way you can track your progress - like a chart or calendar that you have to look at every day? You strike me as a fairly goal oriented, ambitious person, so maybe having that visible goal will help you achieve it.

Remember not to put yourself in a position where you could suffer a setback. And I think it's normal to feel some apprehension about getting back to a regular routine after a major injury like you've had.

Good luck - you have shown that you can be successful when you put your mind to it - so now you have to approach your exercise with the same determination as you approached your diet plan!

Stacy - I agree with the other ladies about going to the gym and starting with maybe just 2 days a week at 1st - even if you have to make it 1 weekday and

I am just starting back at things and personally I had to lower my goals to get back on track. I started to feel really bad about not doing my goal of 6 days a week last week...but I then realized that the 5 days that I did do were great...since I did 6 hours total and one of those hours was shoveling snow on Saturday night!

I set a goal of 2 days a week would be great and before you know it you will be back

LOL - You're lucky you don't have to fight the crowds anymore! Which equipment do you have at home?

I have a treadmill, eiliptical and a bowflex. I got lucky and spent about $500 total on all the equipment and I got it from either a friend or family member that hardly used it so they were like new. I make a little workout area in the basement and now we have a toy room down there too...so the kids can play and I can exercise at the same time. Now that the kids are older they are better at not getting in the way but they love to 'exercise' with me and watch me when I am doing it. (oh my kids are 3 & 2)

That is great that you have all the equipment at home! My 7 year olds stand behind me and do my Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds dvds with me sometimes on the weekend! LOL
