I was a member of lost the last ten quite some time ago, but then after a back injury and a few tough months in general I am finding myself 40 lbs up and really frustrated at how hard it is to balance work, family and find time for the gym. I am 100% cleared to get back into working out and joined curves, but am really not finding that this very unstrenuous workout is doing it for me. I am probably going to go back on WW that is how I lost 70 lbs the 1st time. Hoping to find some motivation with other people in a similar situations.

Hi there! I am also new here. I've been a member of Ivillages Secrets of Married Sex for a few years and ironically enough am now going through a separation, causing my weight to creep back up. I've lost the weight a few times, typically yo-yoing between the same 20 pounds. I'd like to take care of me for a change...not just the number on the scale but as a whole, sleeping, eating healthy, spending time on myself.....or as much as I
Hi there, welcome to the 30's board!
This board is great for support and encouragement- plus on January 3rd some of us will be starting the iVillage community challenge. The link for signing up and information is in my signature below.
I have a friend who did Curves a couple of years ago, and while it may not be a strenuous workout she did get results; in time! There's a few ladies here who do WW and from what I've read it really does help you to stay on track.
Having gone though severe back pain myself I know only too well that feeling of being able to move about with ease again. It's such a good feeling. Glad you got the 100% clear!
Looking forward to seeing you on 'board'~

Your outlook on taking care of your WHOLE self is the one most of us here try to do. You're right, it's not just the number on the scale!!

Thanks for the welcome! You all sound like an amazing, supportive group! Can't wait to get to know you all.
I am looking to lose 35 lbs, but I really think i need to take a whole new approach to life.
That sounds perfect! I am 32 and noticed the same thing. I have food allergies and am not suppose to eat dairy or wheat, I notice I'm much achier now (no crawling through the playground on my knees with my sons anymore unless they beg extra hard!), few grey hairs popping up, lines around the eyes starting, oh, and let's not forget a lazy thyroid that meds don't seem to be helping much. LOL. Ah the joys!
At this point in my life, having a bikini ready body is not my goal (although I'd take it in a heartbeat if it was offered!). I'm more looking at meditation, yoga, getting a full nights sleep, just basically trying to look my best and prevent any aging issues I can, or at least slowing them down.
What kinds of things do you do already and what things do you want to incorporate into your life?
Do you ever just stop and think about the people that are brought into your life? LOL. I say that because of all we have in common. Running/walking is my exercise of choice. Last year my New Year's Goal was to run my first race ( I only started running in January of 2007) which I completed....a 3Km and a 5Km. Right now my exercise goal is also to do 30 minutes 3 times a week on the treadmill. AND I also am in school. I finish in February and then do a 2 month internship and then it's off to the real world again. It's such a struggle to keep balance.....how often have I taken on too much and then wear myself out, forcing me to cut back on my workload.
It sounds like you are going a great job of fitting it into your lifestyle.......just think, you could spend that time at your desk eating out of the vending machine but you make a concious decision to do something for your own well being!
How funny that so much is the same in our lives right now.
Welcome to you both!! Desert_rose & giggleproof!! That is one of the reasons why this board (and many others on iVillage) are so great - you can find others who are in the same situation and predicament as you and are really focused on finding solutions!
This is a great board to come and find support, ideas, and sometimes just a shoulder to cry on! Glad to have you both here and looking forward to a fabulous 2008!!
