Counter service in parks?

We don't usually eat counter service in the parks, what is good? We're going to have the dining plan, and last year we had so many counter service meals leftover that we didn't use. One problem is that we aren't burgers and chicken strips people; even the kids don't eat many chicken strips/nuggets/whatever you want to shape them into, lol. We did eat at Tusker House at AK, and that was right up our alley. We aren't too picky and like veggies with our meals, not fries.
Anything similar at the other parks?
Thanks!

You'd probably like Sunshine Seasons in the Land pavillion, La Cantina de San Angel is decent..actually most (all?) of the countries in Epcot also have counter service so there's 1o choices that veer away from pizza/chicken nuggets/burgers. I say 10 becuase the American Pavillion would have burgers. In MK, Cosmic Rays has the standard options but there are some more 'meal' types, ribs rotesseri chicken, also soups and sandwiches. Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station has some asian 'bowls', teriaki chicken and such. Columbia Harbour house also has soups (clam chowder) and fish & chips. El Pirate y El perrico has a limited selection of 'mexican' (I use that term *very* loosely). Pinochios Village Hous menu looks good too.
But if you liked Tusker House you'd probably like Sunshine Seasons, an Epcot WS counter service and possibly Columbia Harbor House and Pinochios. You're pretty much out of luck at Disney Studios. Those are the menus I'd peruse at allearsnet first.
Tusker House is one of our favorites!
We also used to like the Sunshine Seasons Food Fair at Epcot (the Land) but we haven't eaten there since they re-did it. I've heard good things about the food though!
In the World Showcase, we LOVED the counter service in Morroco (Tangerine Cafe)...very very good! We also prefer the counter service in Mexico to the sit-down in Mexico.
In the MK, we have done Pecos Bills and Cosmic Ray's. I'd be tempted to try Pinnochio's Village Haus since they've re-vamped the menu. We ate there several years ago and it wasn't anything to write home about back then. We also had yummy breakfast at the Main Street Bakery, but I lean more towards the baked goods there...french toast loaf is out of this world!! I also had the fruit and yogurt parfait (good) and quiche (ok, but salty).
Sad to say, there really is no decent counter service in MGM. We ate at the Backlot Express or whatever that's called (near the Indiana Jones show) and it was HORRIBLE! Never again...eeew!
HTH's!

Thanks Sonya.....we tried the Liberty Inn at Epcot last year and ate because we were hungry and trying to get to our Illuminations Cruise, but we didn't care for most of it. The pork BBQ was good though, we all ended up sharing that. lol
We've almost always gone back to the resort for c/s lunch, I didn't realize there were so many good options in the parks. Thanks!
Is the El Pirate place the one that was closed last fall, maybe near Adventureland? The had the menu posted while we were there but it was closed, or I saw a menu somewhere, anyway, it looked interesting. I like taco salad though, maybe I saw that?
Yes, they are cornered to Pirates of the Caribbian right near where the path curves around. In Sept they were 'testing' a dinner buffet there. I haven't heard anything about how it went or if the restaurant is back open under it's regular menu. The regular menu was tacos, taco salad, beef empanada's or chips and salsa. Very limited, and offered no substitutions (flat out refused to give me a taco salad w/o the meat). The dining area is huge though becuase it connects with the dining area for Pecos bill on the other side.
We always *plan* to make it back by lunch but most of the time end up grabbing lunch on our way out. Except at Disney Studios...always make it out of there in time. LOL
We really enjoyed Columbia Harbor House in the MK... I remember getting this really wonderful ham (and cheese?) sandwich that had the best broccoli slaw on it... The day we were there, it was really quiet inside and made for a wonderful calm lunch...

Thanks Julie! We went in CHH to eat, but 4-yo pushed 2-yo ds off the wooden bench and we ended up leaving. It was right before we left to start home, and it was just not good. We didn't even eat there, just too much for the littlest one. May have to try it!
I actually liked the pizza & the salad at Pizza Planet. It's the only food I've ever liked at MGM, too.
