How far in advance to book vacation?
| Sun, 04-02-2006 - 2:06pm |
We are going to Disneyworld in spring 2008. We are going to stay in a Disney Resort this time around. Always stay off-site because friend in Orlando always gets us a discount on a room. Kids and hubby have never stayed on property and I want them to experience it at least once.
Should I book with a travel agent or Disney? How far in advance should I book? We are still 2 years away. I will be applying for Disney credit card from Chase. I guess I will have to book through Disney to get the perks, right? Still need to read the fine print on it.
Thanks!

I think you can make room only reservations right now (they won't guarantee you the rate that's published now - it will be adjusted).

I think you can make room reservations up to 2 years from your arrival date, but like Becky said, the rate isn't guaranteed. If you make a ressie now, they will give you this year's rates, but when the 2008 rates come out (sometime around August/Sept 2007 if I remember right) they will change your ressie to show the new rates; it will probably go up.
We're going in May 2007 and I'm planning to book in the next several weeks, as soon as I make up my mind where we are going to stay.
Hope this helps!
Steph
As stated you can book your resort 2 years in advance. You can only book rooms that far in advance not packages. You will pay a deposit based on 1 nights current rack rate stay and will fall under the CRO booking and cancelation policies. There are ups and downs to this. The ups are that you know you have a room and you can, if you choose,
I have a question as we are planning on going to Disney this DEc 06 and haven't yet booked anything. How soon would you suggest we do as I'm still trying to decide on things and I'm just trying to get as much info before we do.
The few things I don't know about right now is do we want to stay at a place like the All Star Resorts which are cheaper but don't have the things we would like in our room like a coffee machine, fridge or microwave. Or do we pay alittle more or stay off site and get all this mayeb even a kitchnette and possible even a buffet breakfast inclused in our price of or room.
What would you suggest if we did want to stay a place that may include a coffe machine, fridge, microwave and maybe even a buffet breakfast or at least a free breakfast for the kids? I would appreciate any info you could give me. I'm also unsure about renting a vechile or taking the buses that some hotels have for disney resort customers
TIA

I have never in all my stays had a good offsite stay. I've had everything from rudeness to filth to an old fish dinner locked in my inroom safe. Other people on the board have had positive offsite stays. Email me (link in my sig) what you are looking for, in order of importance/preference and I'll pull together some options for you. Include if you think you'll be flying or driving, how long you think you want to stay, # and ages of those traveling, and anything else you think I might find helpful.
