HELP - Going to disney next week

I am going to be in Florida next week. I ended up having a work meeting scheduled in Orlando for next Thursday. So, I decided to go a couple of days earlier so that I can spend a day in the MK. While I go to my meeting, my DH will take the kids to Sea World (they are 6 and 3 and he doesn't think he can manage both in a Disney park because the 3 year old will probably refuse to go on any rides).

Because of its shuttle to Sea World, I booked a room at the Country Inn by Carlson.
But now I am panicked about the crowds at Disney and the fact that there is an extra magic hour every day at the MK. So now I think I should stay onsite.

Two questions -
Is it impossible to get a room onsite at this late date? If not, should I use a travel agent or call the Disney reservations line?
Is it stupid to stay on site if we're only spending 1 day at MK and the other at Sea World?

Thanks!

First will you have your own car? There is no transportation from Disney resorts to SeaWorld so your dh will either have to drive or hail a cab.

Second, no it's not stupid to stay onsite at Disney. There's a level of service and quality that just can't be beat no matter how long you're there.

Whether or not rooms are available depends on when you're traveling. I put in a few test dates in the system but didn't come back with much, I'd probably have to call and can't garuntee anything that way either. Next week leads into easter weekend so will be crowded.
