Dining Plan Question
| Sun, 04-16-2006 - 4:14pm |
I'm sorry if this question has been asked before...
With the dining plan at table service restaurants it says that "including appetizer, entree, dessert, or full buffet". Are you able to order anything you want off the regular menu (one item from appetize, one from entree and one from dessert) or do you get a special menu?
Thanks!

If the restaurant operates off of a menu (Le Cellier, Concourse Steakhouse, 50s Prime Time etc) then you get the regular menu and EACH person in your party may order an appetizer, entree, dessert and non alcoholic beverage (alcohol is charged separate and not included on the plan). The only difference is that you're already paid for your meal when you paid for the plan so don't worry about looking at the prices, order what you really want, even if it is a $35 seafood dish, it won't matter. If the restaurant is a buffet or all you can eat it works the same as usual.
Would you happen to know the cost per person per day? We are looking to rent DVC points so it would be "a la cart". We are two adults and two children (5 & 8) most likely going for

The cost for the Disney Dining plan is currently $37.99 per adult/junior and $10.99 per child. (both totals include tax)
The free dining plan offer is between Aug 13 and Sept 30 of 2006. The OP (Bekah) is renting DVC points so can't get in on the package and asked how much it cost.
I thought you had to book a ticket/room package to do the dining plan?
I've been thinking on this the last few days (although I haven't called to ask yet).
We're considering going Oct and Feb. I was thinking of doing a 10 day no expire hopper to cover both trips, for sake of discussion lets say each is 5 nights. If I wanted to add dining how would that work?
I'm thinking I would have 5 days of dining (to match hotel nights) for the Oct trip as it could be a pkg, but the Feb would have to be room only and I couldn't have dining (assuming you have to get a pkg to get it). Or can I get 10 days of dining and they would not expire if I have the no-expire option?
Can you help or clarify?
Elisa
Sorry I probably should have started a new thread, her question just got me thinking again.
DVC members are allowed to take advantage of the Dining Plan. Otherwise you do have to have a package (room/tickets)to do the dining plan.
For your situation you'd have to still get at least a one day ticket to your room in order for it to be a package and thereby get dining. That's what AP holders have to do. We are booked for Aug with the free dining plan but we're AP holders (well my dd and I) and my mom has leftover days. A package is your room and a min of 1 day ticket. For specials such as the free dining or other promotions Disney usually adds the caveat that you have to have a min 3 nights stay.
So you have some price comparisons to do. Check out the price of the 10 day no expire knowing you'll pay for your dining out of pocket on the second trip, the price of 9 days no expire plus a 1 day (to make your second trip a package) and an Annual Pass plus 1 day to make a package. The AP break even point is right around 10 days, but if you will only be going 10 days definately getting the no expire usualy works out better. You should be able to apply your MYW tickets towards an AP at the guest relations after you check in if I've understood what I've read correctly. AP holders can also purchase the Disney Dining Experiance Card which entitles you 20% off most sit down dining locations.
-OR- depending on where you want to stay you can rent points from a DVC member and pay for the dining plan for your second trip.
