MNSSHP--dinner question

Hello-

I just "stumbled" upon your board--horray!!! My family is heading to Disney the 2nd week in October of this year(we just surprized the kids w/ the news yesturday). We would like to take part in the Mickey's Not So Scarey Halloween Party, & I have found 2 dates that are going to be on sale for while we are there.

I'm curious about dining--is it included? Do you need to make reservations ahead of time? Would we be better off eating before we head into the park? And do we need to use a hopper day for the night? Or is it separate? We are staying at a timeshare off-site, & I am currently trying to plan out our "plan of attack"!

Thanks! Dd is clamouring for a snack, or I'm sure I would keep posting!LOL!

Hello and Welcome!

I'm curious about dining--is it included? No.

Do you need to make reservations ahead of time? Yes, if you would like to eat at a sit down restaurant instead of counter service. You can make ADR (Advanced Dining Reservations) 180 days in advance. Sometimes you can get 'special event' dining further out than that, but I will have to check my notes, I think that was the case when ADR was 90 days...I'll get back, but yes, reservations are nessecary.

Would we be better off eating before we head into the park?

Chris,

We did MNSSHP in 2004. DO NOT do anything else that day. Lounge by the pool or just hang out and relax. You will be able to ride every ride at least twice that night. We were there on a sold out night but you would never have known. The longest line was for Pirates and that was 10 minutes long. There were a ton of trick or treat stops and alot of people were dressed in costume. We did not because it was really hot and with getting on and off rides I figured it would be too hard to do.

We ate at Cosmic Ray's that night. Until 7 pm you can only go to Tomorrowland. Maybe Fantasyland also. Unless you have an ADR for somewhere else.

The party is totally worth the price of admission.

We are going again this year to the first night the end of September.

We went in 2004 also, and we had a blast! We spent the morning at Epcot (I think, it was one of the other parks), then took a nap in the afternoon. We had an ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern for 4:30 and it was the perfect time. We finished up around 6 or so and had to go to Tomorrowland for awhile, but we got our family MNSSHP picture done while we waited. We waited for the 2nd parade (not as crowded) and did other things around the park. Didn't trick or treat much (One stop I think, lol) but the boys loved it.

Liberty Tree Tavern was a great dinner before the party. You can usually make the ADR for that the same time you order the MNSSHP tickets, and the slots fill up really fast. You can enter the MK around 4 with just your party ticket, but if you have a park hopper and went to a park earlier in the day, it wouldn't make a difference anyway.

We stayed until the very last minute of the party, and the CMs were loading people up with candy at the exit....good candy too, Nerds (big packs), Sprees (rolls), etc.

I'd love to do it again!

Don't use up your dsney tickets this day! We went park hopping all day, then to the MNSSHP and we were tired! It is awesome. There were no lines for rides as everyone was trick or treating and we had front row seats for the parade by lining up only 20 mintues early.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! All of your responses were perfect--thank you!!

We planned a bit more at dinner last night & are definitely getting excited. The kids have never been to Disney World(well, ds was 2.5 & I was expecting dd last time), & they are now 6 & almost 10 yrs old.

Now to work out costume ideas...I was thinking something along the line of the 50's so rides wouldn't be an issue--good to know not everyone dresses up!

Thanks again~Chris
