DH, DD (6) and another family and myself are going May 17-21. Im also going to be 7 months pregnant. Any and ALL ideas will be warmly welcomed. I thought I was doing good on the ONE character breakfast I made reservations for, but now after browsing through the posts I feel Ive only scratched the surface of whats available. I feel overwhelmed now :(. HELP!!!!
Melissa

We only did one character breakfast last time also. That was enough conisdering our 2 yo hated the characters being that close to her! She seems more accepting of the characters now so we are doing 4 character meals and one dinner show. We also have the free dining so we can afford it! There was no way we would have done 5 if we had to pay...way too much money!
Don't feel overwhelmed. Read all hte advice given here and write down important things.

I think one character meal is fine! Do not stress about it. I have ADRs for 3 character meals, and I'm definitely cancelling 1; dd and I are the only ones going to CRT (Cinderella's castle), so I'm keeping the one for the whole family (dh & ds, too).
The best advice I can give you, is read, read, read! You may have read one of the posts on this board where Val got back from her trip and talked to a friend who was there the same time; the friend didn't have a good experience, but she had done NO research whatsoever. Go prepared. If you haven't found it yet, check out allearsnet.com; it's a wonderful source of info.
I would also suggest that you post where you're staying and what your plans are so far. Then, we can help you better.
HTH!

Are you going to Disneyland in CA or Disneyworld in Fl?
Were going to disneyland CA---Disneyworld seems a bit large and daunting for me:) I was reading about fantasmic last night and tried calling this morning for the dessert seatings and it was all sold out:(. Im kinda bummed my travel agent didnt tell me all that was available when I spoke with her. I kinda feel like calling her and giving her whatfor----hahaha. I did alot of parusing last night but it seems the more I read the more enormous this trip becomes and were only doing disneyland. From planning the fast pass correctly to doing ADR, to all the lil advice out there----whew!!
Thanks,
Melissa
Our family did Disney in Florida last year for our first time! So we had our 7 year old son and 4 your old daughter and they were at the perfect age! My son tolerated the characters and had a good time with them, while my daughter was just in love with them all! We spent 2 days in Magic Kingdom and one night there saw the firework display. We spent one day at Animal Kingdom and the rest of that day at the resort in the pool and lounging. We spent one day at Blizzard Beach and that evening went to downtown Disney for dinner at Planet Hollywood. We spent one day at MGM Studios and caught all the shows.
You will see all the characters walking around so don't be worried about paying all that money to have a meal with them. We did Chef Mickeys and that was alot of fun. And we did the Polynesian Luai. Basically we took it all in stride depending on the day and how the kids were. I did plan out the days before we went just to try and stay focused, there is just so much to see and do and I know we missed alot. But that is what the next visit will be for! You will have a blast!!

The majority of the posts you are reading on here refer to Walt Disney World in Florida which is a much larger undertaking than Disneyland in CA, though Ca is by no stretch of the imagination 'less'. If I could afford the flights and the time there is no where I would rather go to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland than actually AT Disneyland. You're going to be there during a very special time. It has been almost 15 years since I have been to Disneyland in CA, and at that time Anehiem was crowding it in, it was just the one park and I lived 3 hours away. I was also a kid, 13 when I moved away.
I JUST got back yesterday and am almost 8 months pregnant. The parks TOTALLY killed me because my mild case of sciatica developed into a full blown crippling experience from the airplane and walking so much. I've only gainned 14lbs, so it wasn't the weight that got me, just the abuse my body took from the whole trip. I went there thinking I would be fine, I'm fit, I have good shoes, etc, but it really kicked my tail.
BRING FANTASTIC SNEAKERS.
REST OFTEN.
Walk around on airplane.
Good luck.
Seeing the characters were extremely important to my daughter when we visited - she wanted to get as many autographs as she could. I mapped out the first day at Magic Kingdom so that we could optimize the character sessions.
The second day we enjoyed the Kingdom's events and rides (bypassing the chracters and autographs).
It worked out well. I think we wouldn't have enjoyed the two days as much if we had tried to crunch both type of activities into each day....
I think that's an awesome idea! Thanks for sharing.
