Newbie here looking for planning schedul

Hi, can anybody suggest a schedule for planning a Disney trip, the way they have planning schedules for weddings. Like four months before, do this. Three weeks to go do this.
Here's what I have so far. We are going August 19th to 26th. We are using frequent flyer miles to fly. We are staying off site (for various reasons). Should I wait to find a better deal on a condo, or should I book it right away?
When do I need to make dinner reservations? When do I need to buy park tickets?
How about out of the park stuff like Sea World or Universal? Can you plan those ahead, too?
Thanks in advance.
PS: Hello Alysha from the 8 & 9 year old board. (I'm a lurker)

Unfrtunately if you're going in Augof this year you're already behind the 'power curve' for Advanced Dining Reservation becuase Disney is offering free dining to onsite resort guests from Aug 13 - Sept 30. You can make ADR 180 days in advance so you will want to make yours now.
I am a newbie too, but I noticed you asked about how to plan. I have bought a couple of travel guides and they are really helpful. I think they both have a page that list exactly what you ask for...6 months before, 3 months before, etc. I know there are some rules about mentioning certain stuff on the message board and I'm not sure about mentioning books. One is focused on traveling with kids and the other is a more general guide. Either email me or maybe someone will pitch in the names if that's "legal". Hope that helps!

You can post the books, but not websites that have message boards or that promote commercial sales for personal gain (or some similar wording) Like I can't post the web address for the agency I work at because it's a commercial buisness, but someone who does consulting (pampered chef, usborne etc) can post their personal page. That part always gets fuzzy, but I know we can't post links or direct people to other message boards.
For books the most popular ones are Passporter (my favorite), the Official guide by Birnbaum, the Unnoficial Guide by Bob Shellinger (sp), and Kim Wright Wiley's guide to WDW with kids (excellent!). There are others, but all of them have pretty much the same information it's the tone and the way it's presented that changes so we often reccoment taking them out of the library to read and find your 'style' before shelling out the $20 for them
Thanks for clearing up the rules. I have Kim Wiley's for kids and Birnbaum's and love them both. The book store was out of the Passporter when I was looking, but it sounds like a great one too. Happy planning!
