Best time of year to go to WDW

I was wondering what the best time of year to go to WDW is? I have been once, this past Sept, and it was hot and we were being threatened by the hurricanes. I'd like to go again in a couple of years before my son starts kindergarten (will be traveling with a 2.5 and 5 year old at the time). I'd like to be able to hit the water parks but be comfortable for sightseeing around the parks. However, I'd like to go at a time when hurricanes aren't too bad. Also, since we aren't dealing with school schedules yet, would like to go at a time when there aren't too large of crowds.

Is there a time of year that you can get better deals? I know they offered the free meal plan in Sept when we went.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Alison

I've been to Disneyworld in March, June, July, August, November, and December. December is my winner, hands down....for value, decoration, and weather. Although sometimes it can be too cold for swimming in December, but we do not visit the water parks.

November was my second-favorite time to visit, followed by March. I thought the summer was miserable and hot....but it was still Disney, and still fun!

We have been in September, February, November, and we will be returning this August (to take advantage of the free dining). All of these times were great, let's face it Disney is always great. November of 1994 we were there smack dab in the middle of Hurricane Gordon. The rain was heavy for one day, but other than that, the weather was great. September was brutally hot, but the crowds were low. We went during the week of September 11th 2002 (I think the volumes were lower due to the fear of terrorism following 2001). All in all, anytime is great! The main times others have told me to avoid (because of large volumes) is Easter week, and Christmas week. Anytime you choose, I'm sure you will have a blast!!

We've been in May, June, July, September and December (3x) and are going this August. When we went in September Hurricane Francis hit. There is no where I would rather be than Disney when a hurricane blows through, and really hurricanes plowing through central Fl is pretty rare, though getting the outer bands of rain from bigger storms isn't. Yes it's hot, but it's nothing that lots of water, rests and shade can't cure. It's the humidity that makes it worse. Again, water, water water and rest.

Hands down our favorite time to go is early December. Last year there was no way it was warm enough to swim but the Dec's before that that we went it would have been fine swimming weather in the afternoon. The absolute best week of the year to go is labor day week. But it sounds like the best time for what you want would be late September/early October. It's nearing the end of hurricane season, the crowds are low and the weather is still hot enough to enjoy water parks but not so hot you're miserable going out.

We've been in March (too much rain!), June (too hot), Mid-October, and Early December over the years.

We've been in October three times, September once, June once and May once. The best trip we ever had, weather-wise and crowd-wise was in May. We always used to like October, but since they started having the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, October has been very crowded!

June was a mess...rainy, crowded, hot and miserable. After our June trip in 2002, I said never again in June. Well, we are planning another trip in 2007...you guess it...in June. Unfortunately for us, my oldest DS will be in middle school next year, and I just can't take him out of school anymore for vacation. So we'll have to suck it up and travel in the summer months, and I'd pick June over August anyday!

HTH's!

What time frame in May did you go...early, mid, late? Just asking because we leave in 16 days. Hoping I have picked a good time for crowds, weather, etc.

We were there May 8-15, 2004. The end of the week was one of the Star Wars weekends, but we were not in MGM at that time. We did MGM earlier in the week, so we missed all of that craziness! (although my DS's would have loved to be part of it!)

I think you'll enjoy that time frame!
