Kidcot Fun Stops

Can someone please explain what Kidcot stops are? We typically don't enjoy EPCOT because there is so much walking and not a lot for our soon to be 4 year old to experience. I know that some people greatly enjoy EPCOT so they must be experiencing something we are we are walking right past. I hear people talk about the Kidcot stops, but I have no idea what they are. Can someone please explain them to me, and maybe if anyone else has any tips for making EPCOT more enjoyable that would be helpful.

TIA,
Jennifer

A month or so ago, the All Ears Newsletter did a fabulous report on Epcot through kids eyes. I will see if I still have both issues it was in.

My kids participated in the KIDCOT stops for the first time last year, and they really enjoyed it! Each stop was an art project of some kind....not too difficult, so appropriate for my youngest, but not boring for the oldest.

I love Epcot and so do my kids. However, they are not big on the countries....it's the front of the park that they love. We could spend all day in Innoventions! There are just so many hands-on activities for the kids at Epcot, they're never bored. I think the first few years we visited Epcot, we focused too much on the world showcase.

They also now have Kidcot stops in Future World as well. I know there's one in The Land and the Living Seas; it seems like there's one more. Don't make me walk upstairs to get the map! We just got back on Sat., and I've had enough walking for a while! BTW, my kids are: ds just turned 8 and dd will be 6 in June. This was our 5th year in a row.

Anyway, right now during the International Flower & Garden show, there are a few other things. For instance, the butterfly garden, and right outside of it is a jungle gym type thing made out of rope that the kids can climb on; mine loved it. And nearby, my dd decorated a hat. It was the "Mad Hatter's Garden party". I believe it's for ages 6-12, but they may allow younger ones. This was one of the highlights of our trip. They only let a few kids in at a time (even though it's outdoors). There are tables set up with glue, strips of fabric, ribbon, beads, etc. to decorate your hat. While there, Alice and the Mad Hatter showed up to help! There were only a few of us there, so we got to spend some time with them. Awesome!

Back to Epcot activities. They had a neat set-up called Tinkerbell's garden (something like that). Neat to walk through, and they had tunnels and stuff for the kids to play on. We skipped it, as we were running out of time. Over in the countries, Home Depot had a playground set up as well. And they were giving out free aprons, and you could plant a tomato plant to take home with you. Can't think of anything else from F&G show.

My kids LOVE to watch the entertainment in each country. Their favorite are the kid acrobats in China. This year, we didn't have a good seat, so we said we'd go back, but we ran out of time. They also really enjoy the World Showcase Players (Sonya, I think that's who you're talking about). They're a comedy group that performs in France and UK. Always a hit. Oh, and Kristos, the futuristic 4 person group that does amazing bendy things with their bodies. We talked to them this year. Turns out that the older woman is the 2 guys mother! They are from Bulgaria. They added another girl recently, who contacted them from Bulgaria (didn't know her before), and asked if she could join them. So interesting talking to people who work at WDW!

I can't think of anything else that the others haven't mentioned already. What about taking the boat across World Showcase? We've never done it, but I've always wanted to.

HTH!

Our kids really enjoy Epcot as well. It's a combination of both Worlds. They love Spaceship Earth, Soarin', the Living Seas, Test Track, Universe of Energy, Figment and we've just started to explore Innoventions and had a ball there too. I personally love to watch and listen to the Fountain of Nations. And the kids love watching the jumping fountains near the Imagination Pavillion.
