Dilemma: DL or WDW?

I have been lurking here for a few months and have very much appreciated all of the tips and insight here.

We went to Disneyland in April and had the time of our lives. We knew it would be fun, but we had NO idea that a relaxing vacation like we experienced there was actually possible with 2 young children. We became Disney addicts overnight! We are cynical by nature but we sure felt that magic!

Lo and behold, my husband has a convention in Orlando in November. We never in a million years thought we'd ever do Disney twice in one year but what the heck - life is short! My dilemma however is this: We live in Washington State - just about as far from WDW as you can get and still be in the U.S. There is a possibility that I would have to fly alone with the kids to get there. They will be 5 years old and 17 months old - yikes!! And I hate long flights even when I'm by myself.

WDW just sounds fantastic and we'd go for at least 6-7 nights. I SO want to see it - Epcot especially. But now that I'm thinking about it, DL and CA are really more than enough entertainment for two little kids and even for us. We could do Disneyland for almost as little money and with a lot less stress travel-wise. But boy is WDW tempting since DH is already going there. We'd save a little money in his travel costs. Also, I think it would be more likely we could afford to stay onsite at WDW due to the value resorts.

But our kids are young so we could also do WDW later. But life is short. ARGH!

What would you do? Any wise input you all have would be extremely helpful. Thanks so much!!!

We did DL first and then decided to go to WDW the next year. After seeing both I say you have to go to WDW ! It is so totally different than DL. There is so much to see and do. If you do go you really need to stay onsite. Like I said it's totally different than DL. You can't get a hotel that is walking distance to the parks that isn't an onsite hotel. If there is no way you could swing staying onsite than do DL. But if at all possible I would go to WDW and stay at a value. The kids will love it. And so will you. And staying onsite means you can go back to the hotel and have a break at mid day and do naps and some pool time even.

Thanks you guys. So just to be sure, you are saying in a nutshell that WDW is that much more amazing than DL that it's worth an extra 14 hours (minimum) of air travel with two young children? Even when there's a risk I will have to travel with the two of them by myself?

WooHoo! WDW it is! Bring on the benedryl for the young'uns!
