In case anyone is flying out for Disney soon, this might be helpful info. I work for a newspaper, and this message came from our travel dept. this morning:

United States Changes

TSA is immediately implementing following changes to airport screening procedures: NO LIQUIDS OR GELS OF ANY KIND WILL BE PERMITTED IN CARRY-ON BAGGAGE. ITEMS MUST BE IN CHECKED BAGGAGE. This includes all beverages, shampoo, suntan lotion, creams, tooth paste, hair gel, and other items of similar consistency. Exception: Baby formula, breast milk, or juice if a baby or small child is traveling; prescription medicine with a name that matches the passenger’s ticket; and insulin and essential other non-prescription medicines. Please check with your air carrier well before your flight departs for information on when you should arrive at the airport. A good rule of thumb would be to utilize check in luggage and minimize carry luggage for more efficient check-in.

British Changes
Authorities are dramatically stepping up security measures at British airports. Among other things, passengers will not be able to bring any hand baggage with them on planes departing from any airport in Britain. Authorities are allowing passengers to board flights carrying only bare essentials, such as passports and wallets. If passengers have any questions on their travel arrangements or security in place at airports they should contact their airline or carrier.

Thank you for posting this. Laurie. Here's a link to the TSA site: http://www.tsa.gov/press/happenings/threat-change.shtm

*sigh* this REALLY stinks. We leave in 1 week and all we will have is a carry on. No need to check it.......until now.

Aw, that stinks, Sonya! I didn't realize that you were flying! I hate it when they change flight times and "forget" to inform you! But as you said, it's all good and you'll be at Disney soon!

I keep getting updates from work, so I'm glad the TSA site was posted. I'm sure the rules are going to change in the coming days.

Sonya, I'm sorry you will have to deal with this, all fresh and new, next week. Like you said though.....you're headed to DISNEY! At least it's not a business trip. I know you usually visit Orlando in December. Are you doing both this year, August and December? That would be a dream!

I am traveling from Ohio to Seattle in mid-September, just me and my 2 year old. I am completely freaking out about what I cannot bring with me. I am wondering if by then, all carry-ons will be banned. It would be much safer for sure, but so inconvenient. Heck, I'm worried right now about not having eye drops with me on the flights. My eyes dry out something awful on an airplane!

Sonya,
It sounds like you'll only be able to bring bare minimum into the plane cabin. If you're just going to have that one carry-on type bag I wouldn't put it through ME if I were you - just pick it up at baggage claim and bring it onto the ME bus with you, esp. since it will probably have some essentials that you'll need (i.e. sunscreen)

I just read an article in the last week or so about how airlines were finally rebounding - I guess that's changed again. It's scary, but thank God this is how the world was alerted to it...

I'm sure you'll still have a great time,
Mara

Yeah, I'm glad I checked and had my mom check becuase they changed her flight to an earlier flight! She would have shown up to the airport for her flight only to find out she was 2 hours late! She was hot!

I guess this will change our plan of only taking carry ons for our trip.
