Can you do one park per day?

I am starting to get a feel for some things and I am sure more will come in time.

So my family is two adults, a 6, 5, and 2 year old, plus a 7 month old. I realize that some parks will be more geared towards their ages. We are going for 7 days. Is it reasonable to figure a down day for arriving and departing, a day at each park then an open day to go back to the favorite and finish things up? Or should I just focus on one or two parks for us?

Also, I have been on ivillage for several years now and I know all the general abbreviations, but can some one fill me in on some of the Disney specific ones?

Thanks

What you said is exactly what we do each year. Although we already know that our extra days will be spent at the Magic Kingdom! That is a favorite for all 6 of us. Another extra day (or even a half day) will be at Epcot. We don't love to park hop, but instead prefer to spend a whole day in one park. There are others that love to hop, so that is a personal preference.

My favorite place for explaining Disney abbreviations is:

There are a lot of them. Mostly you will see park abbreviations or resort abbreviations here.

Have a wonderful time planning your trip!

We prefer to park hop, but that's just us. But, our plans for May are pretty much done, and we aren't hopping much at all this time, it just didn't work out that way.

We normally start at one park at opening, take a break around lunchtime, and return to a park in the evening. We have a 9 day trip coming up at the end of May, so I'm guessing the plans will change a bit and we'll end up hopping.

Like someone else said, there is no way to see all of any park in one day, or two, or probably three; there is just so much to see and do. Animal Kingdom doesn't get a full day (in the same day at least) from us, it gets so hot there; I'm not sure why, maybe all the vegetation? Anyway, we're planning an afternoon (goals for that day are to see the Nemo show and the parade, anything else is just extra fun) before our dinner at Boma (at the Animal Kingdom Lodge), the we'll have another day that we start at opening and go until lunchtime.

Hope this helps!

As the previous poster said, you can do it either way....If I were you, I would research the parks and decide what attractions (rides, parades, shows, etc.) you think your kids would like best...then concentrate on seeing those. You may have some time on your first or last day to do some things, too. I definitely agree that your kids will need down time, but a couple of times, we were able to get away with letting ours sleep in the strollers with one of us while the other took the awake child on some rides. You know your family best and know what will/ will not work...but keep in mind that the heat and all of the excitement can be very tiring!

Happy Planning!

When we were there 10 years ago, we had one day for MK, one day for Epcot, one for MGM and one open.
