I would allow for at least 30-45 minutes (up to an hour) to travel from the gates of Epcot to the gates of MK (this doesn't include getting to the gates from inside Epcot and getting through MK's gates). It's about a 15-minute trip, but you have to get on another train at the TTC, which is only a 5-minute trip, but you also have to allow for wait times on trains.
You would get on outside the front gates of Epcot (the Spaceship Earth gates heading towards the parking lot), and you would get off at the TTC. Then, you'd transfer trains....if I remember correctly, to transfer trains from MK to Epcot, you don't have to go down the ramp, you just cross over, but to go from Epcot to MK, then you have to go down a ramp and up another one. The express train will take you counter-clockwise from the TTC through the Contemporary (without stopping) to MK's front gates. The resort train will take you clockwise from the TTC stopping at the Poly and stopping at Grand Floridian before heading to MK's front gates. If you want to do a round-trip, you most certainly can.
Oh yes. We start testing THIS week, and next week, we start a research paper. These are 6th graders who have NEVER done a research paper, so I get to teach him how! Out of the 5 main core content areas (if you break up reading & writing), writing is the area I'm LEAST qualified to teach...and this is AFTER testing!
Silly me! I didn't even look at the time you were talking about arriving. 5pm is late. But since DH isn't going to MK any other time, why don't you get those few attractions in.

I'm going to suggest doing either Epcot or MK, but not both.
I have a night owl family, both ds 12yo and dh don't sleep until late!
