No-park day Dilemma

I had first entitled this pot "How to get to the Boardwalk...from AS Movies??" but I guess it's a bit more complicated than that. Here goes, I know if anyone can help me with this you ladies can!!
The one thing I know is that there are no hotel-to-hotel buses. This will be DH's birthday and we have an ADR at Spoodles for 6pm. If it makes any difference, it's a Sunday, August 12th, smack in the middle of our 9-day trip.
We had initially thought of seeing DTD in the morning/early afternoon, then coming back to the hotel for a break/swim and then going to the Boardwalk for the evening (leaving DS at the Sandcastle Club)...but how do we get from the hotel to the Boardwalk and will that be too much coming and going on buses?
Alternatively, we could sleep in and enjoy the pool in the morning, then take the bus from our hotel (AS Movies to DTD and spending a few hours there before heading directly to the Beach Resort to drop off DS at the Sandcastle Club, then walk to the Boardwalk just with DH. Is there any other transportation other than buses from DTD to the Beach resort? Are there buses from DTD to the Beach Resort or to the Boardwalk and if so which would you recommend and how long do these take?
I like the first plan better in order to have lunch at DTD and then have a break in the late afternoon, but is it worth the extra transportation 'leg' we would save with plan #2?
Also, would DS be missing much by not going to the Boardwalk at all with us? (You can tell I already feel guilty for leaving him at the Sandcastle Club while we go to Spoodles by ourselves, but the thing is, we want to try out Jellyrolls afterwards too, and that's not a kids place...I guess we could do Boardwalk AND Spoodles with DS, then go drop him off and turn around back to the Boardwalk for Jellyrolls??).
Help please!?!?

I just thought of something else, just to add to the confusion :)
My original plan has another no-park day the day after DHs birthday (that would be Monday, Aug 13th) just for Blizzard Beach. Should we perhaps not attempt DTD and Boardwalk on the same day (which would hopefully simplify transportation issues) and instead do DTD and Blizzard Beach on the same day? Now that I think about it it would make sense that DTD would perhaps be less crowded on a Monday than Sunday!? I think I like this idea best...
If we go with that, is there a bus from DTD directly to Blizzard Beach? Can you all think of a reason NOT to do it this way??
Hmmmm...
Me again, lol :)
Rethinking the above...
But back to my original question: What's the EASIEST way to get form AS Music to the Beach Resort OR to the Boardwalk? The only way I know is through Epcot, but we don't want to use a park ticket that day...
You can take a bus to Downtown Disney from your resort and change buses there. You could also take a bus to MGM, AK, or MK and transfer. From MGM, you would get on a boat to get to the Beach Club or Boardwalk. There is also a walkway (goes all the way to Epcot actually) but it's not a quick walk. Not terrible, but not short.
There is a bus from your resort to Blizzard Beach; it is the same bus that goes to Animal Kingdom. The sign reads Animal Kingdom/Blizzard Beach. I don't remember where it stops first. Typhoon Lagoon shares a resort bus with Downtown Disney.
I can't bring myself to stay out of the parks for a whole day, can't help you deciding that.
