Need help planning our last day

I need your ladies help once again! I am trying to plan the last day of our trip. We are going for 5 nights in September and staying at Port Orleans French Quarter. The last day of our trip is on a Wednesday and was going to be dedicated to Animal Kingdom which has evening extra magic hours that night so it is open until 8:00pm.

Plan #1. Go to AK for opening stay all day. Go back to hotel around 5:00 to freshen up for 7:30 pm dinner at Ohana and watch MK fireworks from the beach of the Polynesian.

Plan #2. Take the boat to DTD from French Quarter in the morning and hang out there then take a bus to AK around 1:00. Hang out in AK for EMH then go to Animal Kingdom Lodge for late dinner (8:00pm) at Boma's. Walk around AKL to view animals on Savannah (or will it be dark by then)

So the question is, how do you ladies go out with a bang? We are only there 5 nights and 4 full days with a couple of hours our first night there. We have full days booked for Epcot, MK, and MGM (maybe 1/2 day since we are doing Chef MIckey's in the late morning before this park). We are not doing any water parks and I hadn't planned anything for downtown disney.

Is it worth going to downtown disney if we are only going to be there such a short time? It is so tempting to go to DTD because the French Quarter has a boat we can take over there.

So which plan do you like best? Or do you have a different idea all together?

Thanks!

We could spend dayS at Animal Kingdom, but I do have one word of warning. AK is always hotter (or feels hotter) than the other parks and September is still pretty hot. If you choose the all day at AK plan, make sure that you plan plenty of breaks in air conditioned areas, like spending the afternoon out at Rafiki's Planet Watch or getting wet on Kali River Rapids, plan to see the indoor shows (Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo) during the middle of the day, and definately amp up your water intake.

On plan two, the shops at Downtown Disney don't open until 10 am, so the likelihood of you getting to AK at 1 are slim. 2 or so would probably be a better guess. But I like how relaxed this day is. Actually they're both pretty relaxed and a nice end, I don't think you could go wrong with either.

As far as transportation goes, for plan one, you'd take the monorail back to the MK and pick up the PO bus there, but it will be park closing so you'll have some waiting. You could also walk to the TTC from the Poly and monorail to Epcot and pick up the bus. For plan 2 you'd bus

Thanks for your reply! I wonder if we should just skip the downtown disney thing and spend more time at AK? We will take plenty of rests. We are all kind of laid back people who don't like to rush around. For plan #2 though, could we take the bus from Animal Kingdom Lodge to Downtown Disney then take the boat back to French Quarter or would that take more time? I was actually thinking about using DTD as a go between the resorts. Is this incorrect?

For me, figuring out transportation and the best way to get around has been the most difficult thing for me since I have no experience with it.

I have figured out that we need to go to disney for about a month in order to do everything we want to do! It is difficult to make theses decisions when you aren't sure if you will ever be back again!

You certainly could use Down Town Disney as your resort to resort drop off point but it does usually take longer. With few exceptions, Down Town Disney is further away from the majority of resorts and the bus service runs less often (every 20-30 min instead of 10-15 at parks).

My vote is for AK in the morning and afternoon, then head to Poly!
