Hi Girls.... I know I have some time before my trip - but I was wondering what are some of the things that I should make sure I pack.

If you Google "Disney packing list", there are some great ones out there. I know there have been a few great threads on this here, too....I'll see if I can find them for you.

I have a spreadsheet for my family that I use every year so I don't forget anything. Some of the less obvious items on my list are clothespins, various sizes of ziploc bags, and disposable rain ponchos.

** I was just thinking of something else I bring for my 3 year old. A cup with a straw that I can throw in my backpack. I love the "First Years" disposable ones....even though I wash them and reuse. Animal Kingdom restaurants do not have straws or cups with lids, and that is a recipe for disaster with my little one. I try to remember to bring my own when we visit that park!

Here's a link to a thread here....it shows a free "universal packing list" website that's pretty neat.

I probably can't add much to the packing list, but here is my little "unpacking" hint for when you get back:

I keep a Disney bag. Just a plastic bag from one of the gift shops, and I keep the kids autograph books, lanyards, fanny packs, sunglasses (they have Disney sunglasses), ponchos, and anything else that we only use on our Disney trips, and I pack them in the bag. I put the bag with our suitcases. This way, when we plan our next trip, I'm not hunting all over the house for the stuff we usually bring with us!

Marcy, that is a great idea! I will steal that one for sure. Somehow items get lost in the kids' bedrooms, and I really should keep them in one place.

We have all of our pins in a shadow box, hanging in our game room. I figured that was the only way to keep track of those little suckers from year to year around here! It looks pretty on the wall anyway....it's a Disney-themed room.

I haven't revisited the old thread or the link, so a lot of this may be repeated again.

  • ziplocs

  • sharpie markers

  • depending on your resort - a shower curtain and Command adhesive hooks (this is to put up a divider between the sink/bathroom area and the rest of the room for some privacy while getting ready and also to block some of the light from that area if other family members are still sleeping)

  • short M&M mini tube to stack quarter quarter penny in for pressed pennies

  • rubberband for your autograph book (makes it easy to find the page you're on)

  • $8 in cash (at least 2 of which is quarters) if you're driving

  • gallon ziplocs for packing outfits in - label with the days if you're anal like me or are afraid you won't have enough clothes

  • something for the kids to do at restaurants while waiting for food. Most have the crayon/ color page but it's the same 2-3 each time. We bring the tiny party favor sized playdoh, or some pipe cleaners (add a few pony beads if the kids are bigger)

  • something small to entertain kids in line or waiting for parades, bubbles, anything from the list above, a hidden mickey book, I spy ideas, stickers, homemade disney trivia or brain quest game

  • small fan or water mister - purchase at home WAY cheaper than at Disney - just mind the kids with it, not every random stranger likes to be accidently blasted with the water :-)

  • pedometer (for fun)

  • paper or notebook for the kids to review things at night (you can write their answers, but it adds a lot to the trip report)

  • sippy cups or refillable water bottle for the kids (like Laurie said - no lids or straws in AK)

  • travel pack of lysol wipes - especially if you have small kids who may be inadvertantly eating off the table or the highchair! lol Those stick on table mats are good too

  • extra hair rubebrbands

  • hat(s)

  • sunglasses

  • extra socks

  • charger for cell phones, cameras, etc

  • extra batteries

  • plastic take & toss snack containers for snacks that crush easy (crackers, cookies, pretzels, chex mix etc)

  • chewing gum (not sold anywhere on property)

  • extra film/memory card

  • largish diaper bag to put toiletries in. Some items are still in ziplocs, but with the diaper bag, which is designed to be easily cleaned, it's one less worry AND all the stuff is in one place

  • deoderant (!!) LOL

  • Wet Ones or baby wipes

  • pop up laundry hampers or laundry bags

I have a Disney box at home like Marcy's bag! LOL Since we drive, I just keep the stuff in a rubbermaid with the suitcases. It has the girls lanyards, some trading pins, the bag Kait likes to carry in the park, our day bag backpack, hand held fans, some crystal lite water flavor, 3 M&M mini tubes, the not yet full, 2 packs of travel lysol wipes, extra sunglasses, crayons, stickers, playdoh, laundry sacks, travel size laundry detergent and fabric softner (in double ziploc bags). As the trip gets nearer I'll start tossing food stuff in the box also, like cocoa, coffee, crackers, fruit leather, trail mix etc as well as small things I pick up 'from Tinkerbell' for the girls.
