Rent a stroller..... or bring your own?

We are going to Disney in a few weeks... and I am leaning toward bringing my double stroller (duo-glider) becuase I love it and it has so much space to store things. Our girls are 3 and 1.

What have people found re: bringing their own stroller vs. renting one? What are the strollers like that your rent? Do they have alot of space to store diaper bags, etc...?

Thx. so much.

No storage - just a little bag on the back like on umbrella strollers

really not suitable for anyone under the age of 2

you won't have a stroller at your resort

you won't have a stroller at the airport

here's an FAQ with some pictures http://www.allearsnet.com/pl/strol_faq.htm

For the age of your kids, bring your own.

I agree with bringing your own for your kids' ages.

I, too, am all for bringing your own stroller, especially for younger kids. I only wanted to point out that a large stroller, such as a double, can be quite difficult to manage on the buses. I don't know your situation, though. We brought a large stroller and an umbrella for our 2 boys, but we were traveling with my parents. So, they took the kids while DH and I took the strollers. If you are staying off site, it won't be an issue at all. I am not saying that it will be impossible to manage a double on the bus, but it will be difficult especially if you don't have any other adults with you. I just wanted you to be well informed :) Have a great trip!

I have to agree about the stoller being difficult on the bus. When we went in 2004, my DS was 5 and DD was 2 and we brought a lightweight stroller for DD. IMO it was more of a hindrance than a help when getting from the parking lot to the park. We stayed offsite and had to take the tram from the parking lot and I felt I was always rushing to fold it and cram it on the tram. Also, my DS and his cousin decided they also needed a stroller and once DD saw them in the double rental stroller, she wanted to ride with them. We ended up renting one the whole week. We did the same this last trip with a 7 and 4 yo. However, I totally agree that anyone under 2 would probably not be comfortable and it is a long walk from the park entrance to transportation at the end of a long day -- I would have liked a ride in a stroller, that's for sure!!

Actually, we are staying off site. So does that mean we won't have to ride the bus at all? Can we just park our car and walk to the Magic Kingdom? (sorry, we haven't been there yet)

You can't walk to the MK, you have to walk or tram to the TTC and then board a boat or monorail, and depending on where you're located in the parking lots for the other parks you may have to tram there also. The parking lot trams are like long golf carts - open sides with a top and narrow seats - most adults find their knees touching or almost touching the seat in front of them. So a little preperation will go a long way with the parking lot trams and the strollers.

I can't remember which one you said you had, if it was a side by side or a tandem front/back. If it's a side by side, I had no problem sitting with one of my girls on my lap and the stroller in front of me since it folds so thin. A front/back would take up the whole leg space between the seats so since kids have to be on the inside I'd put one of them on the seat and the stroller in front of them, sibling on the other side and mom & dad on the outside.

All children must be out of the strollers and the strollers folded to board the tram, so pack light, a backpack does well. You can fit what you need and it easily goes over the shoulders for tram boarding and other times when you can't have the stroller, like in line or show buildings. put everything in your backpack in ziploc bags so security can easily search your bag.

Like the web site says the stroller rentals are $10 so you could end up spending a lot for a few days in the parks. We rented one during our visit in November but we only went to MK one day with our son (who was 9mts at the time). I would not have done it for more than a day at that price.

so are you saying we have to park... walk to the shuttle....and then go to the monorail? I guess I was hoping we could park our car and walk to the monorail and skip the whole "shuttle thing" all together (??)
