How to do the countdown?

We're quickly approaching the 100 day mark here and I was wondering what fun things you are all doing at home to keep track with your kids? I've thought of calendar pages, some sort of graph or counting "tape" posted on the wall but wonder what else we can do just for fun and to involve the kids in the excitement and help with the wait?

I make a calendar for each month and staple them together and decorate them. I start at 1 and go backwards till I get to today. Then, everyday they mark a day off and can see how many days left.

We also have one of the mickey head punches...I think Whale of a punch makes them..I punched out about 30..(for when there was 30 days left) and strung them together with thread. Everyday, they slid one off and could count how many days left.

Another idea I am tinkering with is to buy a mason jar, decorate it with disney stuff, place in there treats for the number of days left. Everyday one daughter can take out a treat and eat it. When there are no more treats it is time to go to Disney! We still have 138 days left!

Your jar idea was exactly what I was going to suggest. My friend's DH is deployed right now and she uses a jar of Skittles for her son. Every day he gets to eat 1 Skittle. It's really helping him see how close daddy is to coming home.

I have a little Disney Widget on the dashboard of my laptop. It counts down the days, hours, and minutes until our flight leaves! My 7 y.o. ds loves to check it everytime he's using the computer! I'm going to try some of the other ideas for my 4yo dd though...She doesn't quite "get" the countdown at her age!
