When you pick your Disney resort you need to start with what can you afford or are willing to spend per night. The Deluxe resorts are very pricey and start at over $200 a night but they have superb service and amenities. The moderate resorts are much cheaper and start at $145 a night they usually have a sit down restraunt a food court, and themed pools with slides. The values start at $82 a night, and are themed with larger than life (4 story) Disney icons. Rooms are small but very clean.

We have stayed at 2 of the values and love them. While the room is on the small size it is perfectly fine with our family of 4, mom, dad, 2 dd's (12 & 8). We feel there is enough room to spread out and the girls have room to play. Not everyone feels that way. We travel on budget and values are perfect for us. We love that all the buildings are decorated and themed to their area. We have stayed in the Toy Story section at All Star Movies and loved the 4 story tall Buzz and "Andy's Room" areas. We loved the 60's section of POP and the girls thought it was fun to run under Balou everyday. All values have lots of pools (2 at each All Star and 3 at POP) which are themed too. Pop has a giant flower pool, a computer pool and a bowling pin pool. Our favorite feature at all the values have been the food courts. When we are at Disney we dont like to waste alot of time on meals, we usually do 1 character meal, and one nice sit down meal but the rest we want fast good food and the food court totally meets that standard. They have many options, enough that my super picky kids and dh can all have what them want.

Well thats just my 2 cents!

If you haven't been to the Disney.com site yet....that is a great place to start in terms of picking a resort for your next WDW trip. We all have our favorite resorts based family needs, location, amenities, etc. I've stayed at 7 different resorts now in all different price ranges, and I can't say I hated any of them! For my family of 6 though, the favorite resort so far has been the family suite in the All Star Music value resort. It was perfect for us.

What does your family enjoy? Are you outdoorsy kind of people.....do you like things to be very posh.....do you spend much time in the room.....do you use the swimming pool.....do you want fine dining on site? If you tell us what you like, we can probably help match you to a resort, or at least point you in the right direction.

We've stayed off-site 2x, 1x at Old Key West (on my SIL and BIL DVC points!), 1x in a cabin at Fort Wilderness, 1x at Port Orleans Riverside, 1x at All Star Movies, and we'll be staying at Pop Century in 18 days!

Of course, we prefer staying on-site to off-site. But honestly, we loved every place we've stayed. We have traveled alot with my Mom, so with 3 adults and 2 kids, we've needed more room (thus the cabin, and then 2 rooms at a value). Next time just the 4 of us go, I'd like to try the Wilderness Lodge (if I can justify the cost...I'm a cheapskate!)

I really don't think you can go wrong with any of the Disney resorts.

lol - you'll probably get a dozen different answers to that question, since everyone has different tastes.

Ou favorite so far was Animal Kingdom Lodge. It was pricy, but the amazing atmosphere and the animals right off our balcony every morning was worth it! The only other downside to AKL is that it's kind of far away from everything, so it takes a little longer to get to and from the parks. Also, the pool there is phenomenal, and the restaurants are SOOOO yummy!

Good luck on picking one!

I think it all depends on you, your budget, and who's coming with you! DH and I stayed at the Grand Floridian for our honeymoon--which we absolutely loved, but it's not my first choice of where to stay with our children! We are going in July and have booked the Polynesian, as it is on the monorail, and that is of utmost importance to my 7 y.o. ds. LOL! The Wilderness Lodge is another favorite. It has a great atmosphere and is close to the MK. We've been to the Yacht Club twice, and I love that one because of how close it is to Epcot and all of the fabulous restaurants, as well as MGM...We've stayed at Port Orleans, which was also nice. The only resort I wasn't completely thrilled with was the All Stars, mostly because of the vast number of people there and the time it took for transportation..However, the price is unbeatable, and I'd certainly consider staying there at a more off-season time without the crowds. JMO.

Figure out how much you want to spend and go from there...that usually determines where we stay. If money is no object, decide which parks you'll spend the most time at, and choose one of their resorts. I personally love trying out a new resort each time we go. I've never been disappointed!

Happy Planning!
