Kona Cafe @ Polynesian-the service was incredible & so was the food-the wait staff was so friendly, they engaged my children (5 & 3) with conversation.
Our favorites are Teppenyaki and breakfast at Crystal Palace.
I think Teppenyaki is closed during your visit, if I'm remembering correctly when you're going. It's a Japanese steak house and the food is fresh and good and they cook in front of you and the showmanship is so fun. Downside is that the wait is usually long even with an ADR because they are communal tables of 8. We have a few around here, but while good, they just don't compare - the atmosphere is more subdued than at Disney.
Crystal Palace has an amazing array of choices on the breakfast buffet. I don't eat red meat or pork, so breakfast is always interesting for me since it seems so many things have bacon or sausage in it or I'm confined to carbs. Not so at Cyrstal Palace! There's plenty of options with and without the meat and they've always got a large selection of fresh fruit (not just oranges & grapes). The restaurant is bright and airy and very pretty. It's a little noisy, but not overly so. Oh - it's a character meal. It's Pooh & pals, but we could take or leave them. The interaction is good, not rushed, but we go there for the food.
I vote for Crystal Palace for breakfast too. My dd is a big Pooh fan and she loved it! My favorite picture on the trip is one where Tigger came to the table, you can see the delight in my child's eyes. :-D Oh the food was good too!
Crystal Palace is our favorite with several others as seconds. We are eating Mother's Day Dinner there this year, but we usually love to eat lunch here.
My absolute favorite is BOMA at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. There is a wide variety of foods which often have different spices and taste along with other things that you would expect in a buffet type setting. It is also fun to check out the hotel.
My family also has a few other favorites, such as Crystal Palace, Liberty Tree,Coral Reef, and Rainforrest Cafe. Akerhaus Storybook Dining is also great for the princess lovers. For a cheaper idea in Animal Kingdom, Flame Tree Bar-B-Que is a great value, even more so if you are on the dining plan.
I have not dined at any of these places, but after asking MANY people questions I have come up with the following list of "places to go with young children". Again, I can't personaly recommend any of them, but they have come recommend to me. I just called yesterday and got reservations for a mid-september trip. I was not able to get the times and days I wanted, but was able to get most of the places on my list :) Best wishes! I am copying a plan of attack for our trip. I am a little anal, I know. But, it might help you :)

You are welcome! I am new to this too :) I came here and got very motivated by these women! They are hard core Disney gals! Plus, we got in on the free dining plan. If I did not make reservations, we probably would not eat . . . . that would be BAD!!! After I sent you that message I added the Fantasmic dinner package at Hollywood and Vine. If you eat there and request the fantasmic pkg, while making reservations, you get reserved seating at the show. I thought, what the heck, might as well!! You can also get the fantasmic pkg at Mama Melrose? and Brown something??? I got alot of my information off the allears.net page. Have a great time!!!
