Keeping a baby hydrated...

We're going to Disney next week and are bringing my 9 month old DD. I'm worried about keeping her cool and hydrated in the parks. She's still nursing and though I've been trying to practice getting her to use a sippy cup, she really doesn't like drinking juice/water. I'm planning on nursing her at the baby care stations, or even just on a bench here and there, but how much "extra" fluids have you found a baby needs in the heat of Disney?

I was thinking that I'll freeze a few of the little gerber juice bottles and bring them in the diaper bag so that they won't be totally warm and gross, but I still don't think she'll drink much of it.

Any suggestions or tips for traveling with a baby this age? Thanks! :-)

We took Jack last year when he was 12 months. He was still on formula but would use a sippy. I actually finished up his forula while I was there and

If you are breastfeeding, then your own body will compensate to an extent and as it gets hotter your milk gets larger water content - mother nature is a wonderful thing!

Make sure you drink lots of water and stop to nurse the baby more frequently than you normally would, even if only for little sips.

Definitely take some water in a bottle/sippy and encourage baby to use it, you may be surprised how much is drunk from it.

Make sure you have an umbrella or other means of shading the stroller and maybe one of those mister/fan combos. I've heard that the nursing rooms/baby change areas provided at WDW are nice and cool and a good place to take a quick break from the heat.

have fun

And become good at nursing in different positions! My DS was about to nurse on just about any ride he could go on LOL! Yes, at times it was jsut a few "sips" but I figured since he was getting a bit every 1/2 hour or so, I did not worry aobut how MUCH he was getting. Of course, he never liked the bottle or most sippies, but he LOVED drinking from a straw since before he was a year!!

As long as you know how to spot dehydration and let him "demand feed" very often, you will be fine!!
