I have TOLD dh that I do not care if he joins us or not, dd15 and I are going when she graduates high school in 2010. (It's scheduled to open in 2009.) Hopefully the HP park will not be so large that it needs more than a day or so to "do" it, and the rest of the time we can go to WDW!

How long before I can start planning ROFL?

Aly had to promise at Whispering Canyon Cafe to never step one toe in Universal. But when she found out about Harry Potter at Universal, she said she might just have to break that promise for that reason...lol.

I still would love to go see the Dr. Seuss area at IOA, but it's still not worth the price of admission.

From what I understand it's supposed to be a aprt of IOA - a large 20 acre part - http://media.universalorlando.com/harrypotter/

I can't wait until it opens, but I agree with Sonya. It's just a bit too soon for me. Let the movies finish out before you toss in the theme park for it.

I have to admit I love standing under the Sorcerer's hat on a daily basis and hearing the HP music come on. There are quite a few people who hear that music and ask what movie it's from and when I tell them it's HP, they do a *duh* moment.

My DD is 9 and has absolutely no interest in Universal studios, which is fine by me. When HP park opens we will check it out though.

We want to go, too! Since it opens in 2009, we're thinking Sept/Oct, 2009. DD will be 15. Of course, most of our trip that time will have to be WDW, with HP being our excuse for making the trip, rofl!

Haven't been to MGM since 2002, but I had no idea they played HP music! Wow!

So glad to hear it's in IOA because I've always wanted to do some Dr. Seuss stuff, too, but can't justify the admission just for that.

I think most of the DR Seuss stuff at Universal is in Universal itself not IOA,(but I could be wrong there) although my DD's fave ride - The Flying Unicorn is in IOA - it was the first ride she could go on all alone when she was 6, it was almost empty and after riding it once with her I just sat in a spot where I could see entrance and exit and let her go round and round and round.....

Oh, I thought it was in IOA. They didn't put it in until around the opening of IOA. We went to Universal way back in 1995.

Sonya,

That's an interesting point. But can't we say the same thing about WDW? How often do they re-do a show or attraction based on a recent Disney movie? Narnia, cars, Nemo...none of these were out for years before Disney was adding stuff in to cash in on the excitement. Of course, they're not adding an entire park for them, but when you think about it, HP has been around for close to 10 years already, if not longer. And the ticket sales for the 5th movie blew the first 4 movies away, and the 7th book sales were off the charts. My point being that in most series (movie or book) by the time you get to the 5th, 6th, 7th...the excitement is significantly less. So, by that account, I would say that HP has already been proven that it will be a lasting phenomenom, not a passing craze. JMO, of course!

What I find most interesting about your post, though, is that when the themepark was announced, newscasters were saying that since the 7th book will have been out for 2 years already, no one would want to go. In other words, they'd be over HP already. Of course, there are still 2 more movies, so I think they're wrong on that point, but I find it interesting that you're reasoning for not liking the idea/timing is the exact opposite of their reasoning for not liking the idea/timing of it, lol.

BTW, does anyone know when the next 2 movies are due out? I would think that at least the 6th would be out by 2009, if not both the 6th and 7th?
