Spring Break: WDW or DCL?

Hi. We are planning our second Disney vacation. Our last trip was in May 06 when our sons were 5 and 2. We are considering spending Spring Break 08 (the last week in March which includes Easter Sunday) at WDW. The boys will be 7, 4 and we have a new little guy who will be almost 1. Our oldest has had some medical problems this year, and he should be finshed with his treatments in January so I wanted to take a great, big vacation to celebrate. We are limited to spring break because I don't want him to miss anymore school than he already has. However, I'm a little leary about the crowds at WDW that week. Has anyone been there over Easter? How bad is it, really? We would probably be spending a lot of time hanging out at the resort. We are looking at the Beach Club and Wilderness Lodge. Do the pools get terribly crowed during the day? Anyone have an opinion about the best resort/pools for this age group? We stayed at Saratoga Springs last time, which had a great pool area, but I wanted to stay a little closer to the action this time.

The other option is a cruise. The cruise is quite a bit more money so I still have to convince my DH. My theory is that the boat is designed to handle a certain amount of people so it wouldn't necessarily feel more crowded that week. Can anyone support my theory?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Brenda

Thanks! I found Val's trip reports, and it doesn't sound too terrible. We would probably be spending our mornings in the park and afternoons at the resort. The BCV sound pretty great.

Val, did the weather cooperate so that you could go to Stormalong Bay or Blizzard Beach? I'm anxious to hear if the kids liked it. My 6 year old is all for the waterslides. My 3 year old, not so much...

Brenda, I'm so sorry I'm just seeing this now! This is very funny b/c the only resorts we've stayed at are the WL and the BC (the villas as we are Disney Vacation Club Members) but we are planning on staying at Saratoga next Easter.

Thanks so much for all the information. We're still undecided. That is, I want to go and my DH doesn't. I'll keep working on him.

We ended up at Saratoga Springs by default. My parents were suppose to go with us and we had reserved a 2 bedroom villa at the Boardwalk. My mom broke her leg a week before the trip so they had to cancel. The only place we could get into was Saratoga Springs. I really liked it even if it wasn't our first choice. Keep in mind that this was my first trip to Disney since I was a kid and the first time I've stayed on the property so I'm easy to impress. The resort is new so the rooms and grounds were very nice. It is big and spread out so it never felt crowded. We really enjoyed the pool. Although, it sounds pretty tame next to the pool at the Beach Club. There was a splash-pad area and zero-depth pool for my 2 year old and a waterslide for my 5 year old. We didn't try the Spa, but it looked nice. I also liked being close to Downtown Disney shopping and restaurants. My kids liked the boat "ride" across the lake and the Lego store. I'm sure it will be even more fun for you with your girls.

Have a good time next year. Wish me luck persuading DH...

Thanks again,
Brenda
