Has anyone had to cancel for medical....

for medical reasons. we purchased trip cancellation insurance and Im wondering if anyone ever had to act upon this?? Our son is not physically up to the trip due to an accident/injuries in which he got a concussion but I dont know if this is a good enough reason???
TIA

I don't know, how far away is your trip? I would call ASAP and explain the situation, see what they say. If it isn't covered, maybe reschedule the trip for a few months later?
I hope he's better soon,
Steph
I am sorry you'll have to cancel the trip - your poor DS!
You should call the insurance company and ask what documentation they need, I would think a letter from your doctor/hospital would do it along with maybe x-rays or something.

We had put a deposit on a Disney cruise and about 6 weeks before I broke my ankle and was going to be in a cast and on crutches for 8 weeks and didn't feel I could do a cruise ship on crutches. We hadn't made the last payment yet, and I called them and they gave us a refund, and required no documentation. But this was several years ago, right when the cruise line was new...so I'm not sure what their current policy is. I honestly can't remember if we had purchased insurance or not, but knowing my hubby, we probably did. I also don't remember if they refunded the original deposit or just the rest of the money, but if you have insurance, I would think they would refund all of it.

I did call ds's doc and asked for a doctors letter but he's on vacation til after Labor Day and she wasnt sure if the doc would give me one because he was treated at the ER and followed up at the hospital - what the heck is that about I wanted to scream "you're his doc, you get all the reports from hospital" But anyhow I'll wait and see if he gives it to me.
Other than that dh and I discussed just postponing the trip and re-scheduling for sometime next year probably a school vacation week tho.
I'll post the outcome, in the event it may help someone else one day.
thanks for all your help.
