I read this on MouseSavers:

>>>The all-you-can-fit-in-a-box Disney-themed Mr. Potato Head toy ... For a flat rate ... you get as many parts as you can manage to fit into the provided box, as long as it closes and is not bulging. This toy is available at many locations at Walt Disney World... Here are some hints for getting the most for your money when buying this toy:
•If possible, buy one or more basic Mr. Potato Heads while you're still at home. You can get one cheaply from a discount store (or even a thrift store or yard sale, if you're really frugal). The head sold at Disney World is the same as the standard ones sold elsewhere, and it's the bulkiest part. Since will take up a lot of room in the box, skip it and load up on the Disney-exclusive parts! You may be able to make up multiple complete sets if you buy the heads separately.
•If you do buy the head at Disney World, be sure to open up the back and fill it up with parts! This is allowed<<< (and it goes on to describe a few other pointers).

Does this mean that you can bring a Mr. Potato Head (in it's packaging) into a Disney World store that was purchased, say, at Toys R Us? And that you should leave the head at home and just use the box for the parts? I should go to Toys R Us and buy one and leave the head at home, just take the empty box to the Disney World store?

Wondering.

No.

When you get to the stores that sell the "parts"..they have empty boxes that are flattened. The box costs $18 (or whatever the price is) and includes everything that fits in it. So, if you already have a Mr. Potato Head, then don't stuff the box with another potato, just stuff the box with parts--2 of this, 2 of that, that cool nose, etc.

That is a bit confusing, huh? Mousesavers might want to try and clear that up a bit....the part about the $18 box.

My kids love to play around with the Potato Heads, but we've never purchased one. Or the parts. Maybe this year. We have a Disney-themed game room, and a fully decked out Disney Potato Head might be just what we *need* in there. :)

We have two potato heads at home already, so when we were there last week we went into the big toy store in DTD and got just parts. You take the box provided and fill it with pieces. We went with the unique disney pieces like cinderella hair, mickey ears, etc. You just have to be able to close the box. The cost was $19 I believe. My dh is a great packer and there was not an ounce of air in that box! Solid pieces!

They also had an area to do this with My little Pony. A flat box for $17 or something and you can fill it. The assumption is you get a pony too which takes up a lot of space, but you can just get accessories if you want. I thought this was a good deal because many of the pony accessories are fabric and you could fit a ton in a box if you wanted to, not getting a pony.

LOL

Oh, good grief, aly, that makes more sense! I must have been really tired last night reading. That's why when I woke up this morning, all I could remember was that my dreams were all about Disney World lol.

My Little Pony, huh? I remember that toy; none of my girls were ever into the pony toy as a concept, even though they had a few. But Mr. Potato Head is timelessly goofy :D. This "parts-box" concept is something I just might have to consider LOL.

We did this at World of Disney in NY. The store clerk there saw my box...which I thought was pretty stuffed...and she kind of gave me a chuckle and PACKED that sucker - it was a challenge to her!! - If you need the potato head you can also stuff inside the storage unit in his body. I bought this particular one for a friend that was in the hospital and he said he had the best time playing with it! We went back a couple days later and bought them for my daughters and they loved it too!

At The Confectionary on Main Street (candy shop), Aly wanted a mix of her favorite taffy candies (not a pre-packaged bag), so I let her get the smallest bag. I filled it so that we could close it and the clerk sent us back saying not to close it, fill it full...lol. Then, she put it in a little bag before putting it in the bag with our other purchases.

Aly, is that the same kind of deal like with the Mr. Potato Head & My Little Pony, you pay for the size of the bag and can fill it as much as you can? OMG, if that's true, dd15 will be in candy heaven! She loves those gummi peach rings that are not so easy to find, and we both love the even rarer peach penguins. I will just file this in the back of my mind in the event we "happen" to pass that candy store, sneaky Mom that I am, LOL.
