Hi! We are a family of 6 (4 kids ages 8, 6, 3, and 1) Last time we were in Disney we just had 2 kids and stayed at the Animal Kingdom lodge. It was great except for being a little far from the Magic Kingdom. As I was starting to think of going again in a couple of years I heard that most of the hotels only accommodate 4 to a room. Is this correct? Will we be limited to only suites? We wouldn't be able to pay for 2 rooms. What have others done? Which hotels accommodate larger families?
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
I also have 4 children, and it does limit room choices a bit.
We loved the family suite last year....especially the fact that we had two bathrooms. That was wonderful. Our second favorite WDW resort option is a Ft. Wilderness cabin. Past these, there are much more expensive options.....not in our price range, since we travel to WDW quite often. Or rather, we go with the less expensive hotel options so we CAN afford to visit every year!
There are more suite options available in the downtown Disney area, if you are open to that option. We've enjoyed the Doubletree suites twice. Very nice! Free breakfast for us every morning, too.
Others here can give you info on buying points for villas (folks in the vacation club sometimes sell points) and on staying further off site. However, if you are worried about AK being too far from MK....I'm thinking you don't want to be TOO far off site! :)

I think some of the moderates, like POR, offer room for 5 by adding a trundle bed.
