Souvenir Mugs & Fireworks & other stuff

2 totally different topics but I lumped them together;-)
Someone told me you could buy a souvenir mug and refill it for $1 all day long. HOw does that work? Where do I buy one? Can I use the same mug our entire trip(SERIOUS diet coke addict here plus I am on a very strict diet that include DC).
How do I know when there are fireworks. We are going Jan 5-12 and want to go on a firework day. I thought they were on the calendar but I cant figure it out.
Also-how do I know generally how busy the park is those days? We can go from 9 am -8 pm on the week days but Sunday has much longer hours BUT if the park is super busy it will be a wash...we are traveling with 4 kids that are mostly early to bed people.
Thanks!

The refillable mugs are bought at the resorts, for around $12.00 I think and can be refilled free the entire time you stay at that resort - however you can only use them at the resort not at the parks - except for the waterparks which I have heard that you can pay a small fee at to use your refillable mugs there.
Are you staying onsite or off?

I don't know much about refillable mugs. I'm under the impression that you buy them at the WDW resorts and refill them only at the resorts. But I might be wrong.
As for fireworks, here is the link to the calendar - http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/calendar/parkhours/calendarHome?id=MKCalendarParkHoursMonthlyViewPage&date=20080101
The "trick" is that you have to click on the actual number to see the schedule of parades and fireworks for specific days.
As for crowds at the park. You are going in on of the least crowded times of the year. But it's still Disney! LOL If you are staying on-site, then by all means go to the park that is having AM Extended Magic Hours and you will get an early start on the park. However, if you are staying off-site you do the opposite - you avoid the parks with AM EMH b/c you will always be behind the crowds. HTH!

To my knowledge, you buy your mug at the resort you are staying at, and that is where you can refill it. Only there.I've known some people who only stay at one resort, and bring their mugs with them time after time. The coffee at the resorts is nothing to write home about. They have a good selection of sodas though.
I know it's not Disney, but my DH and I also love Williamsburg,VA and if you stay at their own resorts, you get great perks like their transportation and free breakfasts, like cold cereals, furit, juice, milk and you can make your own english muffins and Belgian Waffles(always a line there, though)Williamsburg Resorts are comparable to Disney's The Woodlands is like 145.00 a night.
At what you pay to stay at Disney, I think they should do continental breakfasts, and open trayline service for lunch and dinners.
we are staying offsite so I guess that will do me no good. The person who told me must have stayed on site and not thought of it.
We opted to rent a 4 bedroom condo with our best friends so after the kids go to bed the fun can continue!
Sorry to hijack this thread, but I was just thinking about the dates we were going to be there, and we'll be at AK Fri Oct, 5th, MGM on the 6th, and MK on the 7th and 8th. MK shows no fireworks on those days if I'm looking at the cal correctly. Since we aren't park hopping, does that mean we won't get to see any fireworks?
TIA!
Veronique
P.S. That Sun is DD's 4th bday!
Well Wishes runs every day at MK, and Hallowishes on MNSSHP nights - maybe those nights are MNSSHP nights so they don't list the Wishes fireworks.

When I went to the October calendar and clicked on the number 7 it brough up this page -

It looks like you do have parades on that day.

Hmmm - how come I get this: Parades and Fireworks
No Parades or Fireworks Scheduled Today
Weird... Also, I'm trying to plan out a pseudo itinerary, and was wondering if the tool on the Disney site was any good, or if I should just try to hammer one out on Exel...
Also, I'm having a hard tim finding my way around the site to get parades, show times, etc... any tips?
TIA!
Veronique
