Riding in the front of the monorail

I really don't remember anyone else mentioning this on the board but I wanted to share our experience. When we asked to ride in the front of the monorail with the "conductor" we were told that due to safety concerns, strollers are not allowed. DH had to ride in the main cabin with the stroller and I rode in the front with DS. This was mainly an experience for DS so DH didn't mind so much but I was still bummed that we were unable to ride as a family.

There is also a limit of 4 passengers so for families with more than 2 kids (like mine) or with groups traveling together they will have to split up as well. They enforced the 4 person rule even when my youngest was 1 year old so they are strict with their limits for safety reasons.

And when the younges ISN'T a year old either. I know it is all about safety and they have to have rules, but really...an infant? Now that baby #4 is on the way we will always have to split up. Which is such a bummer. Oh well.
Last trip I sat in the back which was fine. I actually smiled when I saw disapointed kids who couldn't ride in the front because my family was up there...we had waited a few trips to be able to finally ride. I know I am bad. : )

That must be a newer thing, we rode in 2005 with our stroller in the front. But, it was a very small, umbrella type stroller.

Thanks for the heads up though, I'll try to remember that in case we use the stroller next year.

Yes, the umbrella types that are folded are allowed. Just not the big strollers. We've ridden several times in the front when we had the stroller, but on one trip around that time, a father had to ride with us in the next car because they had a big stroller. They were actually behind us, and we had already asked and they said yes. And then they asked, but since we had already ridden up front that trip, we allowed them to go.

Unfortunately, the dad didn't get to, and I wanted to offer to "watch" the stroller and wheel it out for them on the other side, but figured they'd be quite suspicious since we had already allowed them to ride in the front instead of us, so I didn't offer.

And, of course, that was before your trip because it was when Aly was in her own umbrella stroller (she's 10 now).

We rode up front on our last trip and we had two umbrella type strollers. I don't remember having to put them anywhere else :)

Interesting,

The conductor did not mention that it was the size of our stroller. He just said no strollers. But I can see where folded umbrella strollers would not be a problem.

He was mesmerized! Plus, we rode at dusk so all the lights in the resorts were on already which made it all seem so dream-like. I was amazed myself at how different the view is from up there when you have a panoramic window!
