There are some great packing lists out there. I'm not sure what I can link to here, but Google "Disney packing list"...you'll probably get more than you want!
I started with one of these (the first one that comes up when I do the Google search), and I tailored it to my own family. I have my list on Excel and just bring it up each year. I have separate pages for each of my older kids so they know what to (and what NOT to) pack....esp. when it comes to their carry on bags.
How exciting...10 more days! I think we're down to 20 days, and I still have 3 more costumes to sew. Eeks!
LAURIE IN OH, Mom to: Alex, 12.5 years old Julianne and Leah, 11 years old Audrey, 3.5 years old
Disney World trips in 1973, 1986, 1987, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006 Upcoming September-October 2007 trip!!!
I'm afraid to state the obvious, but I swear by: Ziplocs, all sizes, for different uses, including a few small ones in your daypack for all sorts of things. Preston's (lovely name, by the way!) favorite healthy snacks in small packages, for your day pack - keeps the energy going and serves as distraction when having to wait, etc. Cannot stress this enough: COMFY, BROKEN IN, WALKING SHOES (not sandals, not even those you consider comfortable under 'regular' circumstances) for YOU...haven't told the horror stories about my blisters yet (and maybe never will! ewww!)
Any safety items that might make your life easier at the resort (outlet covers, sliding cabinet locks, etc.). Your son might be past this stage though.
I always packed and loved the stick-on and disposable placemats and disposable bibs for meal time.
Hand sanitizer or sanitizing wipes. Purell makes some nicely packaged wipes - little squares.
Ziploc bags for sure! Good call by the pp.
A small first aid kit with kid items.
Some bubbles, crayons and paper, small matchbox cars, etc. for the times you are waiting (parades and such). My kids always loved stickers and index cards.
Most definitely some kid snacks....because hungry kids are grumpy kids, and sometimes food lines are long.
If I think of more, I'll add on. I've been to Disney with toddlers/preschoolers PLENTY of times, and you can learn from my mistkes. :)
Don't forget a Tide-to-Go pen (or similar item) and antibacterial hand wipes for your bag that you take to the parks. You might also want to take extra camera batteries as they are pretty pricey at WDW. I also make sure that I have at least half a suitcase packed with stuff we'll use up on our trip (mainly snack items) so that I'll have room for souvenirs on the way home.
My favorite travel tip (besides the Tide-to-go pen!) is a pop-up hamper. I just found them at the Dollar Tree near me and bought two. We've always used a laundry bag I got years ago from a dollar store, or sometimes if we forgot it, simply a spare pillowcase or even a plastic bag, but the pop-up hamper is a good size and won't tip over in a closet!
My kids aren't little anymore, but when they were, I started taking on travels a small mending kit plus a full-size spool each of black thread & white. Today you better pack your scissors in the checked luggage lol. --- TTFN, Max
