Yesterday I was having a crappy day at work. Found out I didn't get the *exact* promotion I was up for, but a different one instead (which is fine, but I was bummed). Then, I punched in for my shift 15min early (unpaid grace period) and my area manager put me to work right away taking care of a problem, and later when I had another manager fix my time, she did it wrong and I ended up being late, which generated a point on my record card. (3 points and you get a written reprimand). My record card is clean and I wanted it to stay that way...so I need to get that fixed.
Then......I had to train a new girl who was more interested in checking out the other male cast members instead of learning her job. So I was irritated by that.
Fast forward to later in the day....
A lady and her two children come up to me, start talking to me about the Doodlebops and how they got to see them twice and that my advice really helped them. My brain wasn't connecting anything at that point and it took me about 2 hours (after they left) to realize that it was Diane and her kids !!!!!
Diane...I am SOOOOOOOO sorry if I seemed out of it. I apologize so very much!
I hope you make it back over to the park before you head back home!!
(I'm a dork..and I'm woman enough to admit it!) LOL

((HUGS))
We all have days like that. Don't be too hard on yourself.

Yup, we all have crappy days (some of us have crappy jobs too LOL). But is working at DW mostly fun/magical? Don't be so rough on yourself. The time thingy will get fixed and tomorrow is a new day.
Where in DW do you work? That must be so cool, the employee benefits must be awesome for a Disney lover. Hey -- just wondering -- is being a Disney lover a prerequisite for working there?
BTW, my dd15 has clued me in on the actual definition of a dork! TRUST ME - YOU ARE NOT IT!

Oh don't get me wrong...working at Disney is GREAT! I absolutely love it. One bad day is nothing compared to all the fun days I have.
I was just beating myself up over the fact that I was having a bad day, and didn't realize that it was Diane and her kids standing there...(oh dopey me!!)
LOL
I work in the Disney MGM Studios. Right now I am working outside on the Hub Carts, which are the carts on both sides of the Sorcerer's hat that sell hats/mist fans/ etc etc. I love the interaction I get with the guests.
But..as of yesterday I officially got a promotion! I am now an area trainer. Basically, any new cast members that come in to my area (left block...Main Entrance cart, Movieland, Sids, Mickey's on Hollywood, Keystone and the carts) I get to train them on their second day with us. The first day is mainly paperwork and computer work so a Core trainer gets that day, then I get to train them on the actual area they will work in. I train them on the cash register and all that good stuff. And, how to spread the pixie dust..hehehehe
All in all..I LOVE MY JOB!!!

Yup I can see where you would love it LOL! also I can see where you are entitled to have the odd crappy day here and there.
We will be in MGM on Saturday 22nd for Fantasmic, I think you said you weren't working Saturdays right now though?

Lisa: I haven't read any of the other responses to this yet, but, please repeat after me:
You are NOT a dork!!!
*You make me smile each time I think of the excitement of your early posts here when you were first getting hired and trained.
*You were wonderfully friendly and helpful during my planning period for my trip.
*You were just as wonderfully friendly when I got to meet you! You made my DS and DH think I was so cool for having a CM friend, AND
*You made my DS feel special when you asked HIM for his autograph :)
*You made my DH laugh with your comment about not having taken our picture 'exclusively above the waist' (I used that one on him often after that!)
*Both my DH and DS told me afterwards they could have 'taken over your job' while you and I went to VOTLM!
Need I say this again? You added plenty of magic to our Disney memories and YOU ARE SO NOT A DORK!
8:)

Other than for the occasional, um, unmotivated (or 'differently-motivated'? lol) new cast member you 'get' to train, it should be a fun new responsibility, yes? Although I know that your favorite is guest interaction, I would guess brand new CMs might also make for wide-eyed, open-to-the-magic interactions...hopefully?!
I for one will be looking forward to hearing from you how that goes!
(And, more stories from your job in general!)
Thanx Barbara
I had a great time meeting you and your family. And yeah, next time your DH and DS CAN take over for me so we can go on VOTLM. I'm still waiting to see the picture (from the waist up!) that your DH took. When will you show it???? And hey..tell your DH and DS that you ARE COOL for knowing a CM..LOL
I can't wait to get started in my new job. I have my class on the 27th to learn certain things and how to do them, then I will get my new CM to train. Can't wait!!
And thanx again for the nice comments. So, when are you coming back?
