Questions about the best places

I am heading to DW October 5-8. It is going to be a girls weekend only with me and two girlfriends. No DHs and no kids. I know it is mean to do but DH went to Germany for THREE weeks last year without me and the kids so it is my turn. I

Oh, remembered another question - the best places to eat without spending too much. I set a budget of $20 per meal, but will have extra money set aside which can go towards meals. I am hoping that will be enough. I don't mind fast food but not for every meal. I am hoping to be under every meal so that we can go to a really nice restaurant and splurge a little.
If you haven't already, check out allearsnet dot com. You should be able to find attractions and they have every restaurant listed with menus, including prices. It is very helpful. My family of 4 was able to eat for 50-100 dollars a day (eating some meals in the room). So I would think $20/meal is very doable. You might consider splitting something with one of your friends since portion are usually large. You might want to consider reading a guidebook, there are lots of them out there. Go to your local library and see if they have one in the travel section (you also might have good luck at a used book store), or you could always take a day and sit at a bookstore reading through some of the different ones available. Many ladies on this board love the Passporter which is a guide/journal. It might not be available at the library, but some bookstores sell it. I had a hard time finding one when I was looking for guidebooks since I was not in the mood to go all over town to find one :)
I am guessing that you have have either never been to DW or have not been in a long time. I like to plan the days that I will visit each part ahead of time. By looking on the calendar on the official Disney World resort website, I figure out the extra magic hour (EMH) schedule and then scedule my itenerary around those days. Since you are staying off site, I would avoid the park that has EMH since it would be more crowded. Also, if you plan on eating at a sit down (table service) restaurant, you should make reservations as soon as possible. ADR (advance dining reservations) can be made up to 180 days prior to your trip and it is very difficult, if not impossible to walk up and get into restaurants these days.
As for gifts for your kids, there is TONS of stuff at the gift shops. I opted for the potato head parts for my DS who was almost 3 during our last trip. The box is provided in the stores at Disney World and there is no need to bring yours from home. They also have a similar deal with My Little Pony with a box and parts/accessories that might be a good option for your DD. I always have to get my boys one shirt with Disney World on it, but that is just me.
Have a great trip!

Hi, Mom-squared, your trip sounds like it's going to be lots of fun :)!
I was interested in the Mr. Potato Head too.
In peace,
Max
Thank you for the information. I have another question - where? Where do we do the Mr. Potato Head or My Little Pony (which my DD would definitely love) thing? Is it at a specific store or park?
I have never been to DW before but my friend has so I will ask her if there are any specific sit down restaurants
The Mr Potato Head can be found at lots of places. I know I saw it in the gift shop at Pop Century and I would guess that it is in lots of other shops. We bought ours at Once Upon a Toy at Downtown Disney which is where I think the My Little Pony thing is too (I have boys and wasn't paying that much attention to girl toys, lol). Maybe someone who knows more specifics will jump in here :)

yes...you can get both the Mr Potato Head and the My Little Pony at Once Upon a Toy in Downtown Disney. Not sure if you can get them in the hotels anywhere.
I'm
a Gryffindor!
The first thing you need to do is decide which parks you're going to on which days.
One thing I don't think anyone else mentioned is you will be there during the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot!

We did the Potato Head at once upon a toy the night before we left. I did not get the head, just the parts. With all the pointers I had, I filled the box to the brim and it closed..

Gotta find a head somewhere.
